This was posted in the FB group for Tri-Rock Radio last night... It's from an upcoming film called Electric Jesus... It's a great spoof on some of the Christian metal stuff from the 80s. (More info on the film can be found at https://electricjesusfilm.com/).

Ha! Apart from the lyrics, I thought it would have made a really good "Proper" christian metal album.

It reminds me of lyrics by bands like Stryken and others. There were a lot of baby Christians becoming "metal missionaries" that were totally unprepared for the quick rise of even a little fame. I think the song does a good job of showing that spiritual naivety.
Sadly, if the rest of the soundtrack is musically this good, I would still probably get it just because I'd rather have dorky lyrics that are still uplifting than some of the lyrical poetic calisthenics that many bands do now. I just don't get much out of lyrics unless you just lay it out there simply. You can tell a story--just make sure that simple people can get the meaning from it as well.

Speaking of Christian rock movies, whatever happened to the movie that Chaotic Resemblance was supposed to be in? Did it crash and burn? Did it ever release? I know John Schlitt was supposed to be involved in that one.

Does anyone know who are the musicians in that song? It's not that bad actually.

Where I come from "going commando" means not wearing underpants. You think they did that on purpose?

Seeing that it is from a movie that spoofs the 80s Christian metal scene, probably. Where I come from, going commando also means no underwear. It is meant to be a joke. I think it is hilarious! I kinda wish I had written it myself.

It is a 100% mockery. The channel is not Christian & want those in the Christian metal scene to think it's legit. so they can laugh at them. I get the joke, it's just not funny.

That's disheartening.

While disheartening, we can also engage that culture. We were there and were involved. Post comments on the YouTube channel with your memories and defend what some of these artists were doing. Don't attack the song or the film makers behind it. Just shine the light on the scene and Jesus if possible. Don't let yourself get dragged into a long debate as that will fuel their attacks and sneers. We have been given an opportunity to use this against the powers of darkness if we don't allow ourselves to become offended and fight to remove this.
In my opinion, Christians started the cancel culture. Whenever there has been a movie that offended us, we took to writing letters or emails, we organized boycotts when corporations took stances well within their rights to have when we were offended, and then we created our own art with Christian music, books, movies, and now even our own streaming network. We need to be a bit more like Stryper and engage the culture while being inside of it. We must do so in a positive light even when something offends us. Our mission is to show Jesus to the world. If we wear our feelings on our sleeves and let that keep us out of the conversation, then we are hiding our lights under a bushel.
I decided to post and put my thoughts out there. Here's what I had to say. You can go to the YouTube page and see my comments or just read them below:

Well said Pastor!
