After being not to church for many weeks. It was allowed to go to church yesterday.
It was wonderful to be in church again after so many weeks. A service in church is so different than to watch an online service on Youtube. I really felt the presence of God.

So I am building a cigar box bass. I put it together for a test by needed to do more work to it. Everything worked when I took it apart. When I put it back together today, the pickups don't work!
I also have to find an different bridge for the bed-panjo I am doing. My string height is still extremely high.

Saw a guy riding a horse on a major street. Must've run out of jerky at the ranch since he was coming from the Racetrack gas station

So I am trying to do my US Census training. It is mind numbing mush. I had to watch a 40 minute power point presentation with audio that you can't skip through on Equal Employment Opportunities, discrimination in the workplace, and how to be a whistle-blower and what protections you have as one. It was brutal!
I had hoped to work this during the summer when I had no work. They kept pushing it back and now I will have to balance being an educational assistant, crossing guard, and pastor with being a Census Enumerator. Luckily, it will just be until Oct. 24 (the deadline to complete the census) unless they extend the time. I think I can do it. We shall see. If it gets to be too much, I will quit and just do the jobs I can handle.

If I cannot handle the load, I will let the job with the Census Bureau go as it is a part time assignment that is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 24. My other positions take precedence.

So I finished my Census Bureau training. We had to cram 6 days of training into three. Yesterday, I started doing house interviews. Let me say this: going door to door is daunting enough for a social/anxious introvert. It is even more daunting when most of your cases are in your own neighborhood with families you recognize but have been unwilling or unable to approach in all the years they lived around you. It was easier to go to a house where I didn't know anyone.
I did get one guy that was a jerk. They just recently bought a house here, but said they swore that they took the census where they lived. I asked them to help me out just to verify they were properly in the system and to save the taxpayers some money as to not have to send another census worker out to the house. The guy said that this was private property and that we had no right coming up in there. He then closed the door rather loudly. I tabulated what I could and left. I don't know if I did it correctly. As fast as the training was and with it all being virtual, I have no idea if what I am doing is correct or not.

I get really annoyed at jerky people. I don't enjoy interacting with people who come to my door (especially if they are trying to sell me something), but I am always polite and friendly.

I wouldn't be going to most people's doors if they had just filled out the Census when it came in the mail. It only took a couple of minutes and could be done with a computer or smartphone. There were even mail-in ones sent out.

While most everyone has been nice, my nerves are shot after doing this. I have this daily sense of dread that is affecting my heart-rate and my digestive tract. While the work is easy, thinking about going door to door alone simply sends me into a near terror state. I am not sure I can continue doing this if this continues.

There are introverts and there are extroverts. Then, there are those of us somewhere in the middle with tendencies towards one or the other. What really makes life difficult is when you really don't understand the motives or thoughts of other people, and that drives you more towards the introvert side.
Introverts unite--privately...at home in our jammies...via Zoom....or maybe just in spirit!
Anyone else think like this?

We have a heatwave here. It's very warm and it takes till the end of next week. That's long when you don't like very warm summer days.

We're going to have highs in the 100's this week (about 38 C). But that's pretty typical for Texas in August (not to be confused with the band Texas in July ).

It's not the heat, it's the humidity.

You got that right! After weed-eating at church for 4 hours in the heat, I was beaten. The sad thing is that I still am not done.

I am not concerned. When it is my time to die, I know the Lord has ordained it. It might be of COVID, a car crash, or simple old age. Whether I live or die, I will be with the Lord. With that in mind, I refuse to be terrified of a virus I've probably been exposed to already.
