Don't be skeptical.  I work in a school.  Sometimes you have to wait hours to get to a bathroom when things are busy!

Today my contract ends for the job I've had for the past 18 months.  God was incredibly generous when He opened this opportunity for me: we were moving to a different state where we knew nobody and the job I had lined up fell through at the last minute.  Then He put this job in front of me and by His provision we've since been able to live comfortably and even buy a home!  There's a company regulation that prohibits contractors for working more than 18 consecutive months but that resets after a three month hiatus so hopefully I'll be able to return at that time.  It's a little nerve-racking not having steady employment for at least the next three months, but already God's been opening new opportunities for me through the LLC I opened last year.  It serves as a good reminder to me that He's sovereign and that we're completely dependent on Him for everything we have.

SolidWorks.  It still seems to be the generally preferred software for the most part - which is great because I've used a few others and they're not as intuitive IMO.

Makes sense to me. I haven't really used it, mainly just Autocad LT and Civil 3D. I did play around with CATIA, which is from the same company as SolidWorks if I'm not mistaken, in my first year at uni.

It's been years since I took the ACT. I took it once, that was all I needed. I think I scored a 21 or a 22 and that was good enough at the time. My daughter took it in Oct and got a 25 overall. She did very good on all sections except math. She applied to FSU - Panama City. We haven't heard much of anything yet but at the end of Oct we did take a tour. The admin guy met us and took us around. Such a nice small campus and she really wants to go there. He said "If I passed you on the street and you told me you had a 25, with your GPA I would tell you you'd have a good shot at getting in. But when I dig deeper you need to bring up this math score a few points. I'd like you to take the ACT two more times".

The state also offers a scholarship for students that make a 26 on the ACT. She is one point away from qualifying. He said she really just needed to focus on math, as they would combine the highest scores. Well she retook it last month and came up 5 points on math! However, since she was only concentrating on math she did worse on the other sections and still has a score of 25, still one shy to qualify for the scholarship. I checked with the ACT and they do not combine previous scores. However, I double checked with FSU and as a school they do combine all scores.

We submitted the scores to FSU but haven't heard anything back. She really wants to go there and we do too as it is 100 miles closer than Tallahassee and she can get the same degree and live at home.

We applied to several schools but hope she gets in there. I checked around and I was surprised to find that FSU is a moderately difficult school to get in to. However, with this being a smaller campus with a lot less applicants we hope she makes the cut. Keeping our fingers crossed! She will take the ACT again in Dec to try and get over that hump and make a 26. That would be a huge financial help if she does but if she doesn't that's OK, we really want her to get in there.

Oh man, I wish at least one of my kids would have gone to college and gotten a degree.  Not really in the cards for my youngest with his learning disability, and probably not my 27 year old daughter with 3-1/2 children all under 7.  But my 22 year old middle child was smarter than me and easily could have gone and done well, but he refuses to try at anything that takes real effort.

What's odd is that I don't think they don't play here all that often.  The promo material for the show made it sound as if the band hadn't played the Seattle area since 1993 (I know Les lives in California, and Micheal is still in Western WA....but not sure about the others).  We really don't get a lot of the kinds of Christian bands I dig playing here.  Sure a ton of Solid State/Tooth & Nail type bands seem to come here, but not a whole lot else.  Stryper seems to hit Seattle most of the times they do larger U.S. tours (but I've never managed to catch them) and Saint played Seattle back in May of this year, but I missed that one two because I was out of the country on vacation.  Other than a local garage band this will be the first "Christian" band I've seen perform live.

I went to an Arrogant Worms concert today. Who are the Arrogant Worms, you might ask? They're a comedy music trio from Canada. They've been doing this since the early 90s and clearly still love doing it. It was fun to sing along with them in some better known numbers and learn some new ones.
