Took a personality test last night . . . . guess I'll see if I have a personality or not
But considering I'm an engineer, I probably don't have one

Engineers have little to no personality, and we can't dance.

I find that some engineers have the strongest personalities I've seen. Very decisive, "what's-good-for-the-goose-is-good-for-the-gander" types who know that their way is best and everyone else is wrong. Again, only some engineers...

I like skillets, too. They make the best tasting cornbread and fried chicken.

Even abstaining from voting is making a choice. If a poor candidate gets elected and you didn't vote, then you did nothing to help prevent that person from getting into office.

Help. I've been asked by a magazine what artists ES sound like. I've never been good at putting my work into a box. John is the same. We're very firmly in the "sitting on multiple fences" box that changes with every song I write. Anyone out there whose listened to our latest willing to take a stab at putting ES into a "Hard Rock/Metal with melodic, progressive, thrash, Gothic leanings" box? Who do we sound similar to?

mmm hmm. I think the stick is appropriate in this situation. Not excessive force or anything. I mean, you did compare my music to the band that has been widely labelled as giving the worst halftime performance at Super Bowl...like EVER! In your favour, they have won Grammies and sold millions of records, but they're a pop band. No disrespect to pop. I even like some pop from time to time, but I ain't singin' no pop. Now excuse me while I go practice singing like Nicki Minaj.

Please just don't dance like Nicki. Or do your hair and makeup like her. Or talk like her. On second thought, I'll try to forget you said that.

I'd say that E&S is a progressive/melodic metal sound with gothic leanings and that the vocal styling is similar to Stevie Nicks with no vibrato.

You guys have a very unique blend of styles that is still seamless. I'm not at all familiar with a ton of secular gothic or even symphonic bands, but it seems like just about any bands you pick are only going to slightly sound like you. For instance your "musical mood" reminds me of The Birthday Massacre at times. Only their stuff can be a bit more industrial, much less guitar oriented, and leans more pop. Also their singer tends to use that "little girl" voice that can't even begin to be as haunting as you do at times. I'm afraid any band comparison is going to be very limited.
(I'm also not super familiar with TBM as I only have one of their albums....here is a sample of what I was trying to describe).

Another band I think sounds slightly like you guys. Except for half-a-million differences. They have a more simple 80's sound to their metal, and some of their music falls into that anthemic 80's Judas Priest style that doesn't define you guys at all. Also their singer is usually a "power house" style vocalist...which doesn't really define Jen at all. Oh yeah, and they are so obscure they would be a horrible reference for just about anyone to get. So I wouldn't use this band at all.
