| I do like that song! I originally wrote it for my old band Stressin', but we cut it from our set list as it was too high for me in the original key of G. I tried to get the guitarist to drop the key, but he didn't want to. The drummer agreed and I was outvoted two to one.
So, when I did it in the studio, I originally cut it in the key of G. It really was too high for me. So, I retuned the guitar down to F as I am using open tuning. I redid it in F and it worked. You can tell it is a remake of the ZZ Top song, but mine has a darker sound.
It was great fun to actually try to learn the correct guitar solo. While not perfect note for note, I do feel like I came pretty close!
I just wish I had some new ideas for a third album. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| I dig that dirty sound you got on this one. Great parody/cover that doesn't sound at all silly...great stuff. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

I am surprised by the tone, really. I played that on my 3 string car show trophy guitar. It has a slim "lipstick" pickup, which aren't usually known for a gritty tone. The solo was played on a three string fake book guitar I made. It has a simple humbucker in it. Overall, I got a pretty good sound on this. I wan't really going for silly with this one. I wanted to do like the original. Just tell the story and get out. Rock a little while you are there. It was tough cramming that whole story into three verses and trying to keep syllables similar to the original so people would definitely hear the parody of it. Thanks for the compliment!
