So he's vaguely familiar but I can't place who this is...
The late Layne Staley, former lead singer of Alice in Chains.
I see it now - I'm used to the later pictures with the greased back hair, sunglasses and emaciation from the drugs. Great vocalist.
The drugs certainly effected his looks. By the time he expired some people reportedly didn't even recognize him, he had become a pale yellow, lost most of his teeth and was horribly emaciated...really sad

I remember reading he was raised in church but rejected all of it by his teen years. That almost makes it doubly sad. He was a great singer and performer.

My avatar is Andreas Johansson , drummer from Narnia.
I wondered about who yours was. Gosh I love this forum. I love discovering new music and you lot are a treasure trove of band names unknown to me. I've never heard of Narnia. I'm listening to their Awakening album on youtube now. It's almost theatrical in feel.

Narnia is a Swedish band Jen. When you go to the Band Links, go to Narnia. There you can listen to samples of their songs. Sweden has a lot of very cool Christian hard rock bands.

Jen, if you're a fan of Pantokrator, are you familiar with Melech? https://melechofficial.bandcamp.com/
Two of the Pantokrator guys started Melech which is similar though definitely has its own sound. I may actually end up liking Melech over Pantokrator if the rest of their songs are as strong as the three they've released.

Well now that's just IN-sane. Crazy energy in that song. I found myself wishing the operatic vocal was further forward in the mix but gosh that was a hard-hitting jolt to my morning (it's mid-morning here). I don't think I'll need that coffee now. lol
Thanks for that Kerrick. I'm going to look up their other two releases now.
RV, I just finished listening to Awakening. They were the perfect band to listen to while writing promo emails (not my favourite thing to do but Narnia took the edge off it. Thanks for that.)

Awesome; I'm glad you liked! I believe Melech's debut album will be entirely in Swedish (like the other two songs they've posted) but will include the Swedish version of the one I shared here. It's definitely one of my most-anticipated albums to be released in the near future.

It is oteis. Joseph Willams is a great vocalist. The Seventh One is still my favorite Toto album. On the first of October we might change our avatars again. I hope it's not a Halloween theme this time.

Haha, well have you heard Melech? They're pretty dang good... I love the anthemic use of clean vocals - similar to Pantokrator's latest album (which is my favorite of theirs).
Pantokrator is still phenomenal, though I do find myself listening to the three Melech songs on my iPod pretty often...
