Where is he? I always enjoyed his posts and he hasn't been around much. I know he was pretty upset about the whole Shack conversation but I thought we had a decent conversation...
Anyway...

I feel bad for not noticing the same thing. According to his statistics he hasn't posted here since April 3rd (which is a significant absence for a frequent member). I hope he is doing alright. I don't think he is on facebook so it isn't like any of us can check in with him there...I will send him a pm.
As for the Shack conversation I'm thinking maybe I should have chimed in on it a little sooner....but I hadn't read the book in several years and couldn't remember a lot of it, but I do remember a lot of my thoughts on the book were more in line with what Beardad was saying as compared with much of the rest of you who seemed to like it. As a mod/admin I try not to push my view of things sometimes in order to remain more neutral...but maybe that was a mistake with that discussion.

Yeah, we never really butted heads until then. In fact I sold him some cd's a couple years ago that he gave to his daughter for her birthday (I think...).
I went back and forth on even commenting on the Shack situation. I think the issue is that we can all have opinions and respect that someone disagrees. That conversation went a little past that point where some of us (i'll point the finger at myself too) didn't do that. I thought a little more grace could be applied, some folks were a little more... whatever about it...
Anyway, I hope he comes back. maybe if we all send him a message that would help.

I hate it that he hasn't posted. I am partly responsible for that I am sure as I took a polar opposite stance as he did about The Shack. I also disagreed with how the statements were laid out in opposition to the film. It is going to happen when two views are as passionate about what they believe.
If you read this BearDad, I am sorry if I offended you. I am not sorry for standing up for what I felt was right, but I could have softened what I said. Both of us could. I would hate to lose you here over a stinking movie.

It's sad when members of CHM leave or not post anymore after a disagrement over a thread. I hope Beardad comes back.

Cute title. I'm still around, and log in every week or so. I just haven't really had much, if anything, to say, so I pretty much come and go. I'll admit I was a bit sore over the Shack conversation ... not blaming anyone, as I am as much at fault for letting it get under my skin. But much like the whole political nonsense on Facebook a year ago, when I got into some rather heated debates with people that had a different political stance than me, I came to the conclusion that I needed to take a break. But I'm still around, and even if I'm quiet for awhile it doesn't mean I'm gone. I have to do the same thing at home sometimes: just shut up and survive.
By the way, thanks for noticing my apparent absence. I often feel I could walk out of the house and be gone for several days before anyone notices I am gone, and then only because the bills aren't getting paid.

Yay! There's the Bear! Thanks for coming back - and don't worry, you don't have to "bear" your soul to post around here.
Is that too much? I used a similar pun to start the thread, maybe it's too far....

Yes, the puns may be too polarizing, except to the more grizzled of us.

Is there a particular reason, Dale Owen, that your first post was to bump a 7 year old thread?
