As for the autism comments, I think that's probably spot on.  If the person does have autism then they won't realise what they're doing, and will only think of things from their angle.

Antoher option is to deactivate your account altogether. I know nowadays when you talk about not having a Fakebook account, people look at you funny - I'm fasting it for a year so I've gotten the look.

But if you aren't that attached to it and communicate with folks other ways, after a month you won't even miss it. I used it a lot and I don't miss it at all.

Ish, I like that idea. And I've done it in the past for a short time. However, I'm not a very social person (believe it or not)(See thread: Why I'm An Introvert). I don't have any close buddies locally. I don't do anything or go anywhere with anyone but my wife. The church that meets at my house only has 6 people right now and most of them are in their 60s, so outside of a love and fellowship in the Lord, there's not much in common.

So I said all that to say, CHM and FB are my only avenues of social activity. I love posting random music things and funny memes at FB and playing games and serious convos here at CHM.
Besides, if I didn't have FB, I'd pretty much never hear from my kids

I've thought about closing my account and opening one in a vague name. But I hear FB won't let you do that anymore. Besides, people eventually figure out who you are by your posts and friend list.

Fair enough. If you don't want to shut the guy out entirely, just set very clear boundaries. It's tough but I think it's helpful.

Things like:
1. no messages between (pick your time) 10 PM and 8 AM
2. if I don't respond don't continue trying to reach me
3. if I've said no (to anything, not just calling or meeting) then the answer is no and if it changes I'll let you know.
4. To be my friend, you have to be interested in things about me as well. Friendship is a two way street.

I've supervised 2 people with Asperger's and worked with many more, and if this guy does have it, this will help him tremendously as it sets the relationship in very concrete terms. He'll know when he hits the limit and (hopefully) stop. If not, then you'll know he just doesn't have any social skills...

I like all of those, but #3 is the one I'd start with if I can't just fade him off my FB page

I've logged out of FB.
I'm going to take a few days off of it, and may delete my current account and later re-open it under my old account name. I like to do a purge every few years anyways, and this is just a good excuse.

I like the idea of ground rules for this guy, but in reality, he doesn't take no for an answer nor would he "understand" these rules anymore than he's understood things I've asked him not to do in the past.
