Nope! Lesson 1: No matter if my cat was mad at me the night before, she is always happy to see me when my alarm goes off. Just like Jesus, her mercies are new every morning. Lesson 2: I leave my house to go to work, church, to play, to eat out, shop, etc. I leave my cat behind and she is always waiting on me to return. That reminds me of the father of the prodigal son who left home and the father was always waiting on him to come back. This reminds me that Jesus never leaves or forsakes us. It is always the other way around. Lesson 3: My cat is always trying to get me to pay her attention. She seeks constant affirmation and attention. That is just like Jesus, too. He seeks people to worship in spirit and in truth. He is chasing after us! Lesson 4: I have had 4 surgeries since 2004. My cat, who is nearly 16 years old, has played nurse every time I am down. She stays right beside me while I heal up. She is taking care of me in her mind and is trying to comfort me. Alas, that is just like Jesus, too. He is the God of all comfort and has provided the Holy Spirit to comfort us when we need it. What was the POINT of this sermon? To remind my church that the Lord still speaks in still, small voices--those unusual places where you will miss what He is saying if you aren't paying attention or listening. His heart is consumed with us, and He is doing what He can to get us to spend time with Him so that He can reveal His heart to us. Who knew that my sweet Callie could be so spiritual? | I love it when our school system over-reacts and calls out school for inclement weather. This is twice in the last 8 days that they have let us out over strong storms. The last one we barely got rain. | Actually, this won't make our year longer at all. If they keep school open for so long, it still counts as a full day. Both of these days fell into that category.
