Thanks alldatndensum. Appreciate the feedback. I'm not all doom and gloom though. Try this on for size.
Anyone on this forum sing? Anyone want to throw lyrics at this one and sing it?? Let's have some fun.

I don't really have the time to do a lot of work on music right now. I wish I did. I could do a good job on this I feel.
Here are two songs of mine from two different projects I have done. The first one is from my blues project that came out this year.

Another good one. I like to sing (the only musical talent I have) but have never tried anything outside hymns at church or P&W on the radio. Not a good writer though. Fundy is our main lyricist here.

I'd sing for you but it wouldn't sound very good. I mean it probably would sound pretty good in spots and pretty terrible in other spots making it sound not so good all over.

Dude if you knew what I did for a living you would be very surprised at how I could ever find the time to do this stuff. You gotta squeeze it in! Late nights after the family goes to bed. And Ya, you could do a good job with this one!

Very nice! With a song title like "Punch in the Face" it's make you have to listen to it!

I have a version of this song where a few others gave it a go. It's an interesting take they had on it. I'll post in a new thread for opinions. But...seriously if you think you could do a better job with it I could send you the lyrics, or maybe these lyrics inspire something else? Just throwing out ideas.
On my Soundcloud page I have several collaborations I've done with singers and lyricists from other forums. It's a lot of fun to write a song and then have someone else write lyrics and sing to it. Very very cool to see how someone else interperates your music. I love it.

I'll just post it here instead of in a different topic. This song doesn't exactly fit the description of Rock Music That Melts Your Face Off!! Lol!!

So I took in some feedback on this mix and made some adjustments to try and get the vocal to sit better within all of the music. Thoughts?

After listening, I think you have a perfect mix on the music. I can hear everything clearly.
I have decided that I don't care for the female vocals at all. I could definitely hear this redone with a man with a gruff baritone like Jim Morrison, Glenn Danzig, Randy Rose, or even myself. Also, just a touch more movement in the vocals could be beneficial. As is, this comes off as very monotone and pushes me away as the listener.

I work two jobs. Doing anything late at night is not something that is going to happen. One of my jobs is with working with special needs kids during the day. I need all my rest to handle that.

Thanks Staybrite and alldatndensum. If I may ask, alldatndensum...is it this particular female vocal performance you don't like or do you not prefer female vocals over heavy music? I'm just curious if this is a personal preference or do you think this just doesn't fit? As I mentioned earlier or maybe it was even in a different post, this is part of a larger concept album so some of the tracks don't follow traditional song structures or have big choruses and hooks, but other songs do. It's a mixture of both.
We are just putting the finishing touches on another song that does follow more along those traditional song structure lines (well sore of. I think it's still pretty unique). I'm hoping to be able to share it on this forum soon to get even more feedback. It's called My Lullaby.
I really appreciate you and all others giving candid feedback. We work so hard on music and really want it to be the best it can be.
Thanks!

I like the remix as well, although I will agree with Alldat to a certain degree that the song would also sound great with a baritone. Not that I don't like female-fronted bands; unlike Alldat I love them under certain circumstance.

You have it wrong, BearDad. I love female fronted bands! I loved Ransom, Rachel Rachel, Arsenal, and even stuff like HB, The Letter Black, Flyleaf, etc. My feelings abut this track have nothing to do with female singers. I just don't feel that they fit this particular track. I feel that a gruff baritone voice would be darker and a little more psychadelic which would fit this concept album better in my opinion .

My bad; I didn't mean to suggest you don't like female-fronted bands, although that's exactly what I did with the wording I chose. No excuse.

For what it is worth, I like it the way it is. I just thing it would also sound good with a guy. Maybe both a guy and a gal, trading off?

Thanks BearDad. I should be able to post the other song later this evening. We just have a few very minor vocal tweaks in the mix to make, then I'll put it up here to test it out with you guys and gals. We're thinking this new one will be our first single, so I'm hoping it goes over well here, but I do want honest feedback. You have all been a big help so far. So glad I found this forum!!

Love, love, love the new version. Not as muddy. It seems like you added some more vocal layers into parts, which makes the vocals seem not as monotone or flat to me. I know she's your vocalist, so there isn't a serious question about a baritone vocalist, but I think that's just a personal preference thing. To me it wouldn't make the songs any better or worse to have it sung by a man, just different.
I can understand alldat's thoughts on the narrow vocal range, but I think this lyric needs something that is more monotone or drone-like than something more dramatic or traditionally lyrical.
So in a nutshell...even though these are just our opinions, alldat's are wrong.

Maybe it's cause I'm getting sick, but I didn't hear much difference in this version, but I don't have time for an A-B comparison. Everyone else is obviously hearing it different.

I think it is a subtle difference, but significant. It's like everything has a more defined edge to it and isn't just bleeding in to the other sounds. I didn't really hear it at first, but then I did go back and listen to the first version he posted and I could hear it.
