| So my boss's last day was yesterday - she retired. Some of you saw a while back that I was told I was next in line to be promoted this time last year and then a couple months ago was told I wasn't ready.
So the deadline to apply for her position is tomorrow. It would seem I don't have a chance and I'm not sure I want the headache... so do I apply? My wife thinks I should if for no other reason than sitting through an interview and the small chance I could be chosen for the position.
Thoughts? | |

| Yep, do it anyway. Can't hurt, the worst thing they can do is pick someone else (and I have had that happen to me more than once but one time I let someone else have it because I thought the pay was too low for the headache). | |

If you would not enjoy the work then I wouldn't. Though I guess you don't enjoy it now so you may as well get more pay while not enjoying it so maybe I would. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

| If you don't want the headache, then I would not waste the company's time of interviewing you. If they told you recently that you weren't ready for the position, then I'd take the hint and not put in for it. That's by 2 cents worth. With that, and another $5.28, you can get a decent cup of coffee at Starbucks. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| Well thanks for the advice folks. I went ahead and applied. At the very least, I'll practice my interview skills while I wait for the job that is for me. | |
