| assuming the wall is insulated, do you think it is a bad idea to store your records on a a wall that gets sun all day during the summer? or no big deal | |

| Insulation or no, I wouldn't do it. Piano tuners say to never place your piano against an exterior wall, as it will never stay in tune. Insulation helps keep us warm or cool, but it doesn't keep the heat or cold out completely. | |

| Against a wall should be fine as long as light/heat from a window will not fall on your collection. If the house is air conditioned, then your vinyl or CDs will be fine there. If direct sunlight will spill over your collection, then I would not do it. The sunlight will raise the heat directly where it falls and can cause melting to occur. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| Agree with everyone. Store in controlled temp, avoid sunshine thru windows, do not stack, rather store leaned up against each other. Honestly, regarding the initial question of storing them against a wall that gets direct sun, if it's an insulated wall in a house, I really don't have a problem with it. Now, if you were able to put your hand on that wall and feel the heat, then it's not well insulated and probably best to avoid that wall. | |

| I still stand by my assessment. If small temperature changes coming through an exterior wall, no matter how well insulated, can detune a piano they can, over time, harm your records. Personally, I wouldn't do it. | |
