I saw the Top 10 list on Classic Christain Rock Blog.com. For the most part I agree with the list. I will admit there a bunch I haven't listened to yet but have heard feedback from people on here and elsewhere. What I don't understand is #5 is Sweet & Lynch. Sweet & Lynch was hardly a Christain cd. #1 is also confusing its Fallen. I thought Mike said Stryper wasn't a Christain band. Guess when Stryper wins awards its ok Wink #2 is WASP Golgotha that I agree with. Wouldn't had been disappointed if WASP made #1

Stryper just doesn't want to wear the tag.  They still sing about Jesus.  To the outside world, saying you are a Christian band means that you suck.  I don't blame them.

Here is a link to the article for anyone who doesn't want to go hunt it down.

http://classicchristianrockzone.blogspot.com/2015/12/top-10-albums-of-2015.html

I have to say I only own 6 of those albums.  And one of them I personally don't think I would even categorize as "Christian" (the Sweet/Lynch album). I do find it interesting that they matched my top three picks exactly.

That was kind of my thought as well.  Hey at least you know where Rich stands on the issue. Laughing

Why is the world is S&L on that list. There's nothing lyrically remotely Biblical on there

A lot of folks will see it as a Christian release simply because Michael Sweet is on it.

Why aren't you picking on GX Project or Cromwell/Carlson? Those are not Christian projects either.  They have Christians in the band but they are not evangelical releases.  Neither is Impelletteri.  Even though Blackie Lawless is a Christian and his faith is proclaimed on a song or two, WASP isn't a Christian band either.  Could this be a case of bias against Michel Sweet?  It sure looks that way.

I know this comment wasn't directed at me but I feel the need to explain myself since I made the original comment.  I actually gave the Cromwell/Carlson and & GX Project a pass because I haven't heard either album and didn't know what the lyrics were like.  Personally I would be willing to concede they might not be "Christian projects" in the technical sense of the term.  However with WASP quite a bit of the lyrical content was quite Christian (much more so than 90 % of what I have heard from modern "Christian" rock bands).  I also expected that there would have been quite a bit of Christian lyrical slant from the Impelletteri album given that Rob Rock usually writes the vocals.  So personally I have no problem considering those "Christian projects".  However the Sweet Lynch project seemed almost blatantly secular (I'm assuming in order as to not offend George Lynch), any lyrics that even hinted at faith on that album were very vague.  Not that I didn't like the album, I thought it was fantastic and I hope they make another.  One might argue that Rob's vocals on Venom were somewhat vague as well, but I think that has been pare for the course from him.  So I think it might be argued that the Venom album isn't "Christian" either, but at least Rob and Chris are supposedly Christ followers...George Lynch is definitely not a Christian (apparently he considers himself a free thinking atheist according to this article).

The Cromwell/Carlos dsc is a purely secular project with no spiritual leanings.  It is just clean secular.

GX Project is also considered a secular album although there are hints of Rex's faith shining through. He considers it just a hard rock project. To dismiss any on that list because of it being a secular project would mean to clean house of several.

I think we might just have to agree to disagree on that one.  I can certainly see how someone might argue that an album with all Christians (or mostly Christians) that has a neutral message might still be considered a "Christian project" (but I could see how others might disagree too).  However, a project with one of the band leaders who is an atheist, I personally don't see how that can be in a "Christian project/band/album" list.  But hey, it isn't my list.

I get that, but I still think that Lynch/Sweet was added because the lyrical content was written by Sweet who is a Christian.  While not a gospel album, the lyrics were still written through the lens of a man who has faith in Christ.

Yeah All Dat I feel the same way about the GX album and the Carlsen album as well. The people who made that list were lazy. A christain top 10. list should have. Biblical lyrical content, if it doesn't it should not be on the list. Blackie Lawless is the real deal. His lyrics reflect his faith and the others are going along with it. Its a watered down lazy list. A clean secular album isn't Biblical and has no right on the list.

It is their list, however.  What would be your list?  Why not put together a blog and share yours?  It is easy to complain about it but hard to do something like compete.

I feel it is important to keep in mind the style guidelines - both musical and lyrical - of any site that puts together an end of the year 'best of' list.    Does the site in question only cover Christian content?  Or perhaps the site allows albums from bands with Christian members or that otherwise reflect a Christian viewpoint?

I agree that "Only To Rise" by Sweet & Lynch is not necessarily a 'Christian project', but all its lyrics were written by Michael Sweet and have no problem with its inclusion.  Angelic Warlord will be putting together its end of the year 'best of' and Sweet & Lynch will be included along with other acts that do not fall under a Christian heading such as Leah and Diviner.

Great point.  And I certainly agree that it is completely up to the "list maker" to decide what they want to include on their own "Christian" or "Christian friendly" list.

All dat. Peace out brother. You and I don't see eye to eye on a few things. We disagree on more things than we agree on. Bottom line is. If your a classic CHRISTAIN rock blog then it should be songs and projects about the Gospel.

IMO this is not a "classic Christian rock" list, nor is it even a "Christian rock" list. For that matter, it's not even a "rock" list! It is "new releases by artists that are Christian or bands that have Christian members."

I have no problems with their site.  It is THEIR site and THEIR list.  If you think it should be different, then be the change and put out something worthy of competing with them.  It is easy to be a sideline coach when you aren't even in the game.

Are you in a position to take them aside and teach them what you feel is the right way?  If not, then this is just bashing someone because you can hide in here.  Your attitude about it is what is driving folks away from the church.  Just let it be, man.  Either that, or lead the pack.  Otherwise, we are all just clanging cymbals or resounding gongs.

No actually I really could care less about the website or the list. I might have made it seem that it was important but not really just a little observation.

What's with the atitude bro. Your laying on the sarcasm pretty heavy. Btw. I do love this site. You do a great job with running this site. No sarcasm. As far as people leaving the organized church because of people like me nah. Not from the many posts I see from people throughout the internet. I've seen a few articles. and blog posts that say people are leaving the organized church to find Jesus

I apologize.  I should not have said that your attitude was driving folks away from the church.  I was wrong for that statement.

I don't think I have been sarcastic at all.  I felt I was being pretty literal.  Regardless, we will have to agree to disagree.
