Like it ... bought ... but?

How many times it happens that when you have listened to the samples of a new CD you like it.
You order the CD and when the CD arrives you listen again to the CD and then you relaize it's not what you have expected of the CD.
The samples you had listened too were cool, but the other songs on the CD you don't like so much.
Have you had this too?

Or others are talking about a CD you think you don't like.
But you are reading their posts about this CD.
Start listening to the CD and you really like it.

Many, many times! I hate this. Man, this has happened to me a bunch over the years!

This has happened to me more than a couple of times too.
Seems like a lot of times I like the short 30 second samples of the song, but when I listen to a full album of the band their "sound" starts to wear on me after awhile and I just don't enjoy it.

Hate to say it, but Within Silence was like that for me.  The album is great, but I was hoping for good solid lyrics (like the final track) and it just didn't work for me.  Because the lyrics weren't openly Christian in all the songs I found that I've hardly ever listened to it since I got hold of it.

I had the opposite happen to me with Dangerously Close. I heard the samples and didn't care for it. But I ordered it to support Bloodgood and it tubred out to be my favorite album by them.... But yeah, I have bought many that were crap albums too.

Many many times I have listened to the short samples of song and liked them.
But when I listened to the complete song I thought this sounds different.

It happens quite frequently and sometimes even by bands that I already like.

Strangely, not too often with me.  I guess I'm pretty open to most music, whether it's great or not so great.  Many bands I will buy albums from without previewing the songs, especially ApologetiX, and I've only been disappointed by a couple of their newer albums (I still like those albums though). I guess it's similar to liking a home team - they may have a couple "off" games or seasons, but they're still your team.  Lot's of bands are "my team" and I'll buy up their albums without hearing samples first. I can't think of any off the top of my balding head right now, but I'm sure there have been some albums over the years that I bought without listening to, and didn't care much for the whole album.
That happened to me more often back in the late 80s early 90s, when I'd go into a store and buy a cassette tape... only to find out the song I heard on the radio was the ONLY good song on the whole tape... I hate that !

TTDR that's a very good solution for the CDs you don't like.

I'm super picky..if I even have a slight suspicion that I'll be disappointed in something, I won't buy it.

Within Silence is incredible. You need to listen to it again Fundy.

It is great, I just had trouble with the lyrics.  I had hopes that it would be more up front in its Christian message.
