So, the next new song from Stryper's new record has been released and it's the title track, "Fallen". I think I might like this one even more than "Yahweh", which I didn't think possible. Based on these 2 songs alone, this might easily vault to my #1 album by them. This is heavy metal greatness.
I've listened to this new track twice. And already, I went back to work and the chorus was firmly stuck in my head. I love that!

I think I'm with you on this one FOJ, this track smokes! This will likely be my favorite album of the year, and if the rest of it is anything like these two tracks it could end up being my favorite Stryper album as well.

I will reserve calling this my favorite Stryper album after I hear the whole thing. However, by any indication of what we have thus far, it could easily be perceived by a lot of fans as their best work.

Decent song, but are they a Christian band?
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Spoken like a true politician.
The samples for the rest of it seem pretty decent. Well, except the ballad.

I am willing to bet Joshua is a closet Stryper fanboy and has all their albums (including the Japanese releases with the orig OBI strips). Not to mention all their t-shirts and posters.

To be honest fallen isn't grabbing me. I don't like it. I like Yahweh but not this one. Will not be getting this single.

Listening to these 2 new songs, it seems like the drums have a bit of the 80s style reverb. I love it. Does anyone else notice that or is it just me?

I am not sure if the reverb is on the drums or just on the project as a whole. Sometimes during mixing, effects are added to each separate instrument and then reverb added to the final project to make it sound even bigger. Reverb and compression are both added in the final stages to really make a project seem huge.
The drums do have a touch of something though, but they still don't sound quite 80s. They have plenty of attack and decay, but they don't sound "stretched" to me. What do I mean by stretched? 80s drums sound like the sound was stretched so that it kept ringing out until the next beat by the same drum. Natural sounding drums will ring for a moment but not forever. This just sounds like they captured Robert's kit perfectly in a natural setting.

What does that means compression was added

Compression just means that the music was ran through an audio compressor. What this does is it "squeezes" frequencies that are much louder than the others and "excites" less noisy frequencies. Even though the volume of each instrument (or track) was adjusted to the producer's liking, this compression during mixing and sometimes even in mastering evens out the volumes of everything and also makes the final master seem fuller to the listener.
