I put the whole video together.  It took me around 5 hours over 3 days to find the pictures, put them together in Windows Movie Maker, synch it all to music, edit the pics so they changed when I wanted them to, and then get the lyrics to line up exactly where I wanted.  It's a lot of work!  I now have a greater appreciation for bands that release lyric videos like this of their own.

I am so pleased that you all like this!  Keep watching it and sharing it, please!  It does no good to have it out there if people don't hear it.  Viral or not, I want there to be a ton of downloads at www.cigarboxnation.com when this goes live this weekend.  Also, on some of their earlier releases, some of the tracks were really low quality.  I wanted to make a good song with my cigar box guitar, keep the spirit of home-made instruments alive in my song, and raise the bar musically for all of us as players and builders.  I feel that I have achieved all of those goals with this track and feel confident that I can bring all of this to a new album that will start very soon.  I need to finish the construction of guitar number 2 so that I can have what I would need to make a great rock blues album with these guitars.

I like the sound of the 3-string. Wasn't quite what I was expecting, but in fact I didn't know what to expect anyway!

With the pickups that are in it, I can make it sound pretty much however I want.  It isn't, however, great for really heavy distortion.  You could make it sound metal, but probably not for the more extreme forms.  Of course, with the look of the guitar, you probably wouldn't think "metal band" when someone hit a stage with these.

My goal is to finish the 4 string I've started, build a bass, and a 6 string guitar out of cigar boxes.  I wouldn't mind building them to sell as well, but let's get my own built first.

Believe it or not, there are some builders who are putting 3 guitar strings on a neck and one bass string.  For example, if I tuned my cigar box guitar (CBG) to G, you would put on an A string from a bass as well for the 4th string.  You would drop tune it to G as well.  Then, if you are playing, you can note the same spot on the bass string and low G string to get both a guitar and bass sound.  Some players are doing this and rigging up weird drum kits for their feet so that they get a full band sound but are solo performers.  Quite ingenious, huh?

Personally, I'd prefer the full band.  The solo act thing seems like more of a novelty.

I am well over 400 views now and climbing!  Of course, I expect that to stall out now that Christmas is here.  Perhaps next year I will have my three other Christmas songs done.  I want to do these:


1.  Santa Vader (parody of Santa Baby)

2.  Bound For A Throne (parody of Bad To The Bone)

3.  Shop Rags and Stables (original tune)

IF I get enough songs over a period of time, I might to at least a Christmas EP.  If I can get real videos up of them, my Youtube channel could start getting some hits.

I did send a link to http://www.achristmasstoryhouse.com/ but didn't hear anything back. For those of you on twitter, look for Zach Ward and Scott Schwartz and mention them when you post it that way there is a possibility of one of the cast seeing it. I don't know their user names but they are on there.

I sent a message to them as well.  I figured that they might respond better from the guy who wrote the song.  Apparently, they either don't check their FB daily, or they just might not be interested.
