Second Chance - Dear God

Has ANYONE ever heard of this band/album? Picked up a copy today in a local pawn shop. Musically and lyrically, it reminds me a lot of Messenger - hard rock. It's an indie release, but the production isn't bad for one.

I have never heard of it, but your description intrigues me.  With it being an indie release, it's got to be out of print.  Can you rip it and share through Dropbox?

I'm putting it in Dropbox right now, and I think I'll share the link through PM, at least for now. I'll scan the artwork later today.

What baffles me is how this got to a pawnshop in my town. I know it's a chain (Howard's Pawn Shop), but the band is from California and I live on the other side of the continent.

First run through I ended up skipping most of it.  I don't care for the vocalist so much.  I won't write it off just yet and will give it another go through with a more careful listen.

I listened to the first 3 songs and rather dig their sound, but the recording quality is very demo. Would have been nice to hear what they sounded like with a better recording.

Released in 1996.
Recorded at Pig Studios in Bakersfield, CA.

If that's the case, then all the old Intense Records releases should still be available up there.  LOL

I think Angelica was an Intense release… hmm…


I'm going to the United States this week (NY and MA), on my way to college in Sherbrooke, QC, so if I can find some good used CD shops along the way, I will stop and look. Who knows what I'll find...

I really liked the music.  I thought the weak link was the vocals, they weren't horrible...just not all that great.  And the production was rather poor (understandable given the whole "unsigned band in the 90's" thing).  Overall not a bad find.

Agree with you on the vocals, and on the production (although it isn't that bad - I've heard far worse).

By chance would anyone have the cover art for this album ?

Shoot, I forgot to scan it. Remind me next week, and I'll do a scan of everything on the album.

The music was decent but the vocalist did detract from my enjoyment of this project.
