Ok, who has this album yet? (anyone, anyone).
What do you think of it? Is it mostly ballady slow stuff (like their last worship album) or does most of rock like their earlier albums? What gives?

I thank have all of their CDs but this one (got some type of anthology collection cheap at a festival) and rarely listen because sadly they all sound the same: radio friendly, guitar-driven, "is this Kutless?" worship music. Well, not worship music in true form, with all the repetition, waving, and hand-raising, but close enough. I had heard this album was supposed to be heavier, but all I've heard is the title song. You can listen to samples here at Amazon.com; none of them scream "buy me now" IMO.

Listened to the Amazon samples and the two full tracks on YouTube. I actually really liked the bands first two albums. While the singer does tend to mostly use a radio friendly voice those albums had nice crunchy guitars on most tracks and some decent hooks. Their last several albums have include two full on CCM style worship albums and substantially less crunch. I'm just wondering if they can still rock or if they have gone all "Kutless" on us.

While I've never been big on their music, I have a great deal of respect for the lead singer. His heart is 110% ministry, with no qualms about sharing Who he serves and why. The band came to our town last year (amazing to begin with, as almost no-one come to our little dump) and did a concert in the local high school theater. What was really impressive about the concert was the fact that he was sick; he had recently ruptured an ear drum with a "q-tip" (yep, really) and ended up with a massive ear infection that had him coughing, sneezing, and with virtually no voice ... and he did the concert anyway! And I don't think it was a "show must go on" thing either; he really feels that strongly about reaching as many troubled kids as possible. That and that alone was why I bought the CD collection a few years ago at the festival I saw them at, even though I almost never listen to it; to support ministry. We need more artists like him.
I'm thinking it might be time to spin their CDs again.

Several of those you probably don't even want. The first two are indie releases and aren't nearly on the same level as "Picking Up The Pieces" (at least the songs I have heard). I believe "Rescatame" is a Spanish language album. "A Decade of Hope" is a greatest hits album. "Take Everything" & "Love & Worship" are their two "mellower" worship albums. I think their two best albums are "Picking Up The Pieces" and "Once Upon A Shattered Life".

I do have the CD and it is pretty good. No it isn't a ballady type album. In fact they have only 1 ballad on the album (Trust In Me). Its a good modern rock/rock album. Only complaint is that it is only 9 songs long. Actually only 8 new songs as they do a pretty decent cover of the Demi Lovato hit Skyscraper. I highly recommend this album

That's good news. I think I'm going to pick it up at the end of July along with Michael Sweets new solo album.

To be honest, I love their 2 worship albums. The singer's voice is naturally gravelly and somehow this adds a sense of urgency and longing to some otherwise boring worship tunes.
But, the new album is definitely a rock album. My only complaint is that it is only 9 songs. With that, though, I don't really hear any filler tracks. The band wanted to go back to rocking and were going to release 2 EPs. When this label they are currently signed too approached them, they did not want 2 short releases and the EPs were combined to give a full length album. It's totally worth it if you like their past rock releases.
