| Same with me. First name after my mom's uncle and my middle after my dad's brother. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| My first name was a name my parents liked. My other two names are the same as my grandmother had. | |

| My youth pastor's dad has the aforementioned abbreviation of Richard… one of the more perverted (for lack of better word) kids could not stop laughing… | |

| Yeh, I think Delores/Dolores will be off the Name Table within 20 years.
I could be wrong about all these names as there are couples today who loved their grand or great grandparents so much that they may end up naming their kid after them. But I'm sure they'll be in a serious minority.

| The subject of 'hipsters' mentioned earlier in this thread seem to want to invent new names... We are a society that is a mile wide but less than an inch deep....
We are intelligent but have no sense of history or how to appreciate it.... we just want to poke fun an turn things into some silly sexual innuendo.... aka the nick name for Richard being twisted.... sad....

So years back in my college church group, there were a handful of people who were "courting." When asked what courting was, they'd always respond something to the effect of, "well it's kinda like dating but not" and be all cryptic but somehow in their minds it was a holier way of dating. My friends and I came up with "boinking" which was "kinda like dating but not" and "holier" than courting. Unfortunately, it never caught on, but we were hoping we'd have a bunch of people arrogantly saying they were boinking each other in the most holy way haha.

| There's one solution to the Richard nickname issue for those who don't want to go by Rich, Rick or the other one... Be creative like my uncle was and go by "Chard" (pronounced like "charred"). | |
