The best CDs of 2012.

It's coming closer that we -- members of CHM -- make a list with the best CDs of 2012.
Who has his/her list ready?

What's the CD you have played many many times and what will be the CD you are disappointed over?
Looking forward to see your list with the best CDs of 2012.

It will probably be January before I am ready. I just ordered Driver's "Countdown" and I will need to give that several listens before I can come up with a list.

Been working on my list for about a week!

My list will be ready in January.

Bands I liked very much are The GX Project and The Protest.

I will give the new Disciple CD a several listens before I decide what will be my top .. of 2012.

I've had so few new CD's this year that I'm going to find it hard to list more than 2!!!

Too much of your money is going to diapers! So what were you hoping to get this year that you weren't able to pick up?

I heard some of the DB remasters, they sound nice.
I also heard bits of Driver, not bad but not my favourite.
Desperate Night was great.
Bite Stick was ok but the production was a bit thin (to me).
Power And Glory was good, but some songs were kinda repetitive. Eternal Power was a bit weaker.
Stronghold, Amaziah and The Exkursions were all great.

That's all I can think of…

I will put mine together soon. I am definitely leaning towards Saint and GX Project as my top releases.

There have been a number of albums that I was interested in but either they just weren't 'perfect' enough or I just hope they're arriving for Christmas!!! GX Project, Disciple, Dark Sky, L n J, ReinXeed, Driver, Boarders and quite a few more.

Gotta say I LOVE John Schlitts new one though.

So this year I think I've only got Walking With Kings (free!), Saint Desperate Night and John Schlitt's solo album. There may have been a few more at the beginning of the year but I forget... However another reason I've not bought so many is I'm holding out for the following albums (in the vain hope that they will all be out in 2013!)

The Seventh Power - Power And Glory
Stronghold - Fortress Rock (or was it 2011?)
GX Project - Bite Stick

I just couldn't give a place to either the Seventh Power album or Stronghold. Both are rather weak releases in my opinion.

2012 Album Of The Year goes to DISCIPLE and O GOD SAVE US ALL
Okay, so there wasn't that many great albums out in 2012 (hopefully a lot will be released in 2013) but still there were enough to
make it a rather interesting decision. Saint released 'Desperate Night' which is basically Saint doing what they do i.e. making great
metal that everyone can enjoy. John Schlitt released 'The Greater Cause' and although not metal was an incredibly good rock/hard rock
album that showed us how good his vocals still are! But in the end Disciple win with their wonderful album 'O God Save Us All.' They
produced yet another superb album that is equally as good as Horseshoes and Handgrenades (my favourite album of 2010). It is basically
excellently produced hard/modern rock with a lyrical style that again hits the nail on the head. Long may they do this style of music!

I see what you mean for overall album consistency, there are a few weak spots in both. However, I really like some of the songs on Fortress Rock, and on the Seventh Power albums too, particularly P&G. So while not great, there are some good moments.

I think I'm going to wait and include that one on my 2013 list. Even though you can get the digital version now the disc doesn't release officially until February.

Here is my list. The only album I didn't get this year that I wanted was the new one from Joshua Perahia....and that's just because I'm too cheap to spend $25 on any single cd.

10. Liberty N Justice - Hell Is Coming to Breakfast
11. Rhett Walker Band - Come To The River

A special nod to John Schlitt's "The Greater Cause". I'm not much of a Petra fan, and I haven't really liked any of his solo albums, but this was one very good album.

Biggest disappointment: Third Day - Miracle....such a lack luster album from a usually fantastic rock and roll band.

I've been considering it, but would like an opinion from someone who knows their music.

From what I have heard, I'll say Saint - Desperate Night and The Sacrificed - 3

It ranks right up there with the rest of the Joshua Perahia material. Great guitar solos, great vocalist & lyrics, and the bass & drums are more than proficient. There isn't a bad song on the album. A couple of songs do tackle political issues, but this is definitely a Christian album with a Christ-focused message.
