Atkins May project

I was wondering want allot of you thought about the Atkins/May Project! Last year it was the serpents Kiss and today actually the Valley of Shadows is released!!

I know Paul May is a christian and as far as Al Atkins goes I have never seen anything in print that says He is a believer. Allot of his cds has christian imagery and symbolism. But of course so do allot of other bands.

I know Andrew at Angelic Warlord posted a good review of Serpents Kiss, and he has always made it very clear if the band was a christian band or a band with christian members in it.

But I was kind of just wanting some of your input. Feel free to express your opinion I am in no position to judge anyone. I just consider people on this site to be my friends and I picture this as if we were discussing music over a good coffee and donut. Even though I do not drink coffee lol!! but I will tear a donut up though!!

I'm the worst person when it comes to lyrics. I find myself singing along to most songs (at least the ones I can understand) and within a few minutes I can't even remember most of the lyrics.

I was a little bummed that they included the cover to Kiss' "Cold Gin" on the last album (as the song always seemed to promote the excess of alchohol consumption...at least to me). But other than that I really liked the album, and I'm looking forward to the new one.

This is definitely a case of Christians in a band. However, with Paul May being the primary writer for the band, the lyrics come off more Christ-centered than would a purely secular artist.

I also agree that the inclusion of "Cold Gin" was odd. It did not fit lyrically with the rest of the project.

Me too, the problem is that I answered your post first.....and that usually tends to kill a lot of threads.

I'm sure you probably already know about the Angelic Warlord site (run by our very own Dynamis) but there is a rather indepth review of the album there that takes a look at some of the lyrics.

i bought the downloads of this and am listening to the new project right now. I must say that I am liking the new release better than their debut. The songs are stronger and more memorable thus far. Of course, I am 3 songs in. LOL

Right now, the CD is just too darn expensive. Amazon has it but it is $20 and it just isn't worth it. I bought the download. If the disc gets cheaper, then I might buy a hard copy later.

That's very expensive for a CD.
Now you can find this CD on Amazon I will listen to the downloads.

Love the music...can't stand the singer. His voice is awful IMO.

His voice is unique to say the least. To be honest, I think he'd fit in with a much heavier band more like Stricken. He's got the gravel in his voice to be able to do that well.
