Does anybody like these guys? I downloaded a free Tooth and Nail sampler and the one song of theirs on it is really, really good. It's called Shut Up and Rock.

I think they're a great band, and I love the style. Not keen on the lyrical side of things though, as it's not bold enough for my liking. But it's great nonetheless.

What do mean about the lyrics? Are they "Christians in a band" and not a "Christian band" kind of deal?

I liked their most recent album despite the rather juvenile lyrics. Their earlier stuff was too "core" for me. Certainly not something I listen to every day, but pretty decent (and great guitar work).

The music on their latest, which I love, is very much like Shut Up And Rock, which happens to be one of the best songs on that album. However, as others have said, the lyrics suck. They're not "bad", but they certainly have little or nothing to say about their faith either. In fact, songs like Rockin All Night reflect an almost hedonistic mindset prevalent in the world. I used to like this, but as I've gotten into the lyrics a bit more, I've lost almost all interest in this band. This is Bon Jovi. If you like listening to Bon Jovi, then enjoy it. But if you're looking for music that reflects faith in Jesus Christ, this is not the band for you.

Thats what I needed to know FoJ. I want the lyrics to reflect Jesus, so they're probably not going to get bought by me.

FOJ pretty much summed it up for me. I always want the lyrics in albums to have some christian content, but of all the tracks that I've heard there doesn't seem to be any at all (not that I've heard them all).
Indeed, great if you like Bon Jovi, but not so good if you want openly Christian lyrics.

Also worth noting, Tony Gambino (lead singer) just recently left the band to focus more on family. His vocal duties will be assumed by Sam Ryder (the guitarist) who has a very similar voice (maybe not quite as good of range though). I'm not sure of the faith backgrounds of the other members in the band, but I know Tony grew up in a southern baptist family being a pastors kid and was pretty open about being a Christian in his interviews. I'm a little worried about the direction lyrically the band will head in the future with him out of the picture. Here's an unreleased song they just recently released with the new vocalist:
