| Third Day
"It's a Shame"
Kinda get the idea from the basics of the song that we're talkin about a bad relationship... buuuuut, anyone see anything of more substance ? Gimme your input:
I hate to be, to be the one Who's given up And feels that all our hope is gone But what I thought was a miracle Just turned into the same old Problem that it was
She longs for better days She's always been afraid
It's a shame, oh it's a shame That you are throwing your whole life away It's a shame, oh it's a shame I wonder if you're ever going to change It's a shame
Ever since I can recall She has been so afraid Of you losing it all What do you want Do you even know And is it worth the pain We all have to endure
She longs for better days She's always been afraid
You left her without leaving You hit her without swinging
You took away without giving a thing Except for pain and sorrow I'm praying that tomorrow You will open up your eyes and see

| I see a busted relationship through the eyes of someone close to the couple. Her life is in shambles after it. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| It can't be that simple though... examining each line written, it seems deeper. Idk, maybe just me reading more into it. | |

| Why can't it be that simple? Maybe Third Day just wanted to show what relationships without the Lord would look like. Rather than preach and tell people that they were screwed up sinners, they just wanted to paint a picture of the emptiness and futility of lives thrown together without Jesus at the center.
But, then again, you asked what we saw. That's what I see. If you see more, feel free to share. I'd like to see it, too. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

I love that line. It reminds me that we can do an amazing amount of damage to others with just our words and actions. We don't have to physically hit someone for them to feel beaten and bruised by us. What album is this track from? _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I agree with you on the meaning of the overall song.
What I mean by "deeper" is the reading of each line. For starters, what does the beginning have to do with the relationship in the rest of the song ?
I hate to be, to be the one Who's given up And feels that all our hope is gone But what I thought was a miracle Just turned into the same old Problem that it was
is he saying in essence "I'd hate to be in their shoes with my relationship" ?
What's the "miracle" and "same old problem" mean ?

It almost sounds like the guy he is talking to/about is one of his friends. And maybe he is breaking off the relationship with him over what he has done to the girl (and possibly his relationship with his Creator). _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I get the sense that its His conscience talking to him of how the relationship he has with her (his wife, or child or etc) has deteriorated because of indifference or selfishness. Its really quite a sad song.
A wake up call maybe | |

| Different roles in the song? From 1st person to referring to himself in second person ?
Hmmmmm | |
