| Now Retroactive Records is re-releasing a lot of older bands like Titanic, Rex Carroll Band, final Axe and many others. I have thought about this and need help. There are some words I have war with and need help to understand it. Hope it's OK to ask?
I know what a release is, that's bringing out a new CD. A re-release is bringing out a CD that has been released before. Now I wonder when a CD is re-released they only bring out a new CD from the old CD?
A release is nothing new, the CD is exactly the same as the older CD? Are there CDs too where they sing in the vocals and background vocals again, change something in the music? Cool new intro, other guitar work, using a real drum instead of a drum machine? Are there CDs too where they work on mastering the CDs again? The CD of King James that will be re-released is excatly the same CD as the first released CD? A released CD brings nothing new? Re-release can mean too they made new artwork for the CD or add the lyrics?

| Usually when someone mentions a "release" they are talking about a brand new album that hasn't been sold before. The "Rex Carroll Band - That Was Then This is Now" is a brand new release (a new recording that hasn't been for sale before).
All re-releases are albums that had been for sale in the past, but are no longer in the "store" anymore (the are out of print). A re-release might be the exact same album that was sold before (with not changes), or it might include some new "re-mastering", and possibly even some bonus songs/tracks that were not included on the first album, and often new album art. (I believe the re-issue of "King-James - The Fall" was re-mastered, but doesn't have any bonus tracks).
Hope that helps. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Yes, it helps. I still have a question. What's a re-issue? | |

| So a re-issue is the second time (or maybe even the 3rd or 4th time) and album will be released (for sale again). Typically re-issues are for albums that are out of print. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| A re-release or a reissue is basically the same. Both describe a CD that has already been made available to the public once before in some format or another. The record company, or band, is making it available again with or without any changes. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| Thanks for the very good explanation.
There's an other question. How do you call it when an older CD releases with complete new vocals, BGV, and music, the CD is mastered and mixed again?
So I have to ask Chris all my questions, so he can explain it so simple that even I understand it?

| From now on I only order "new music". Nothing reissues, rereleased, realeased, remastered, revocaled, reguitared, rebassed, redrummed or something like that. | |
