| I woke up this morning to find that Windows had crashed and I was unable to re-boot/re-set it. So had a technician at a local computer repair company visit after work. As it turns out, the copy of Windows on my computer somehow had become "corrupted". So what does this mean? Good news and bad news. Good news is that the technician was able to re-instal Windows and save all my documents (the key word here). By documents I am referring to all of the material on Angelic Warlord - reviews, interviews, news updates, etc - in addition to the HTML and files for Angelic Warlord itself. He was also able to re-instal Excel, Word, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc. The bad news is I am uncertain how (or even if I am going to be able) to get the site to work properly. All of the files at the site are uploaded to the webhosting company I use so it is a matter of downloading all the files back onto Dreamweaver. But there is one "minor" (maybe not so minor) problem. I designed the site with templates and the main master template I use for the site I never uploaded. Uh-Oh. I am hoping once I connect back to the server I can use the main template page on the Angelic Warlord MyDocuments file to update the site. Otherwise we are looking at a redesign from scratch, which will be VERY time consuming... Please pray that I can figure out a solution to this dilema (thought about posting this in the Biblical Discusions/Prayer Requests section but there are obviously more important things in life than computers). Thanks, Andy | |

| Sounds like a problem that could of been solved with a backup plan.
I have my systems setup so they all backup automatically every night to my home server.
Though will be praying that you can find a good solution to this now.
Time to also think of a solution so if this does happen again you have a recovery plan!

| Wow! Praying you can get this sorted out. I had my computer crash a few months ago and it was the same thing something in my O.S. was corrupted. I was able to recover all my documents but had to re-install all my software and change all the settings. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Developing a plan of action but still in the research phase. Have visited some Dreamweaver/web design forums and discovered it is possible to "import" web sites into Dreamweaver. Sounds like it is a matter of creating a document in Dreamweaver entitled "Angelic Warlord" and then importing all the AW files in My Documents into the new "Angelic Warlord" file. Still researching but should not be too much trouble. But just want everyone to know I have always kept back ups of the site in case of disaster: I save it too disk and My Documents after each update. Also, got back ups at the sites WHP. | |

| Good news here. After re-installing Dreamweaver, I was able to re-define the site, import all Angelic Warlord files into Dreamweaver, find the correct location on the hard drive for AW and finally re-connect with the server at the sites web host provider.
Yes, easier said than done and it took some trial and error (and more than a lit bit of frustration) but things are pretty much back to normal.
Unfortunately, I did not have the time and focus this past week to put together a new review but should have a news update ready later this weekend. Look for a review of the new Narnia the following weekend.
Thanks,
Andy | |

| That's not good Andy your computer crashed. Hope you can get everything back to work. It's always a fear of me that my computer will crash. Have computer problems too last days. Every time my monitor stays black. So, now I use my husband's laptop. Hope they can fix my computer soon. I hope it's only the monitor and not the videa card. Can't listen to music now and can't feed my Ipod. | |

| The site looks as good as ever, Dynamis. Actually, it ran just a tad faster for me. Maybe the crash, albeit a lot of extra work, was good for us! Ok, you can put that stick down! | That's OK. Because things have a tendency to work out for the best. I've learned a lot about computer security, saving files, re-installing programs, etc.
Determined not to let this happen again, though...

| I have Vista, but think that XP is a better system. Vista is just XP with a few bells and whistles attached (most of the bells and whistles are frankly useless).
As for Dreamweaver - I love that programme! I use it (albeit badly) for the 4 websites I do (or used to do at least). I have a rather dated Dreamweaver 4. Which version do you have, Andy?
