Yard Work Empty
PostSubject: Yard Work   Yard Work I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 02, 2007 2:53 pm

My wife for some reason, loves to work in the yard. I do not, at all.

Do other people love to do yardwork, or is it just mostly women?

This weekend, I had to walk home from church with our son (who was riding his bike), about 2 miles (it's a long story).

By the time I got home, hot and sweaty, my wife was mowing the back yard. I asked her if she wanted me to do that for her, and she said "No I need you to fix the edge trimmer..etc" but she said I could mow the front yard.
Now I don't like yard work, but I am more than willing to mow my own lawn on a regular basis. So I finished all that stuff, and I figured she would come inside.
No, since I was finishing the mowing she decided to move landscaping rocks from one part of our lawn to another. So not wanting to appear too lazy, I offered to help with that too.
Before I knew I had nearly half the day doing yardwork! Yuck!

Glad to see my wife isn't the only crazy person. lol!

Yes, I'm very happy to live in a part of the country where it seldom reaches the 90's (4-6 days a year tops usually). But I don't care what the temp/weather is like. I don't want to have to do yard work.

Yard Work Empty
PostSubject: Re: Yard Work   Yard Work I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 03, 2007 8:37 am

I have been threatening for years to have someone pave my yard and paint it green. Holly & I should buy a condo so we have no yard to worry about. Not only do I not like doing yardwork, I don't really like being outside. I don't care for the heat & humidity in the summer, and in the winter it's too cold. In spring & fall, my allergies give me fits even after years of shots for that. So, I prefer the air conditioned/heated comfort of indoors!

But, I don't like doing housework, either! OK, I'm a lazy bum! I admitted it. Do I get a medal?

PostSubject: Re: Yard Work   Yard Work I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 03, 2007 8:44 am

When I have the mood and that's not often I like to do yard work.
Since we have much rain here for some weeks the weed is growing so hard that it takes a lot of time to remove it.

I like it to buy plants for the yard.
I don't have to mow the lawn.
But I love the smell of fresh mowed lawn.

So it looks like Alldat and I are the only ones who don't like working in our yards (I don't mind doing house work, but not all day).

For years my dad threatened to replace the lawn with astro-turf.
I always tought that would be a good idea.

Yes my wife loves this as well, flowers, trees, bushes. She loves to plant new things.

I just mowed the grass and used the Weed Eater. I hate doing it, but I am always glad to get back under the air condition where this cave dweller belongs. If God had intended for me to be outside, He wouldn't have given me an inside! lol!

Maybe you should move to the SW where it's warm/hot and dry and lawns are dirt?

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow....or the next day...or next week/month/year.

Think of it this way, Yvonne. If you don't cut the weeds, you will attract snakes who will eat those frogs. But, you'll still have the snakes!

That might be fun, but instead of weeds you would just have the danger of getting poo thrown at you from the monkies, or mabey even rabies.
