You guys were the smart ones Tink, doin the SRV thing, keeping it real, that glam stuff was... well, i liked that people enjoyed what we did and got something out of the music, but theres alot of that stuff i couldve done without (hairspray and big hair being one of them).
i would def be in more of a "Stevie and the Saints" style band these days. i burned out on the heavy metal stuff in the late 80's... It was funny, i had written most of "All Hail the Power" in the late 80's after leaving Neon Cross, by the time the record company got around to wanting to record it i had to go and relearn all the guitar i wrote and that style of playing otherwise i wouldve had to rewrite it all yet again...
Oh, and hello to everyone here, glad to be a part of this number.

Welcome PK. You still put out one of the best P&W disc in music. Even my wife who I was dating at the time liked it and she out grew metal as well. No problem with me if your new style is in the modern rock vain. Never heard of Stevie and the Saints so not sure what style it is.

Stevie and the Saints is a blues-based hard rock band (think ZZ Top meets Stevie Ray Vaughn kind of vibe), and bigjtink is the drummer. You can hear some of their music at cdbaby, check out these links.

Speaking of Stevie & the Saints, wasn't there supposed to be a "remaster" of "Metalblue"? It would be cool if maybe Stevie and the guys could hook up with Retroactive records for some remastered reissues.
Also for those "not in the know" PK Mitchell also played in Neon Cross for a while (but I'm not sure if he played guitar or bass when he was with NC). Maybe he can straighten us out.

Thanks for posting that Staybrite. Though I would suggest waiting to buy if you are interested. CD Baby only has CD-R copies. We have had some stalls on the new stuff but we are hoping to have it all together later in the year with some shows to follow.

I thought there's a link somewhere in the Buzz how Stevie and the Saints sound. Let me search if I can find something.

Very cool! definately let us know when the new stuff is ready for sale, also keep us updated on any shows. I'm not sure there is anyone here from CHM that lives in the So. Cal area, but you never know.

That's awesome! Absolutely love that song. If you can have really modern songs (copyright and all that) then how about In Christ Alone. That's got some amazing lyrics in there.
I was going to post the last verse, but it's too good to not post all the song........
In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; this Cornerstone, this solid Ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone! who took on flesh Fulness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied - For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave he rose again! And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine - Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath. Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

I'd be interested in a part II, but I really like the style of the first album, and I'm afraid, reading the comments here, that II would not be much to my liking at all. I don't care for the Stevie & the Saints sound. I know many others like it, but I like the straight ahead heavy metal sound of the 80's far more. I just listened to All Hail The Power yesterday (before I knew this thread existed). I love that album.
Other hymn ideas: Come Thou Fount, Stand Up, Be Thou My Vision (a ballad?)

How about the Bill Gaither classics "Because He Lives" or "He Touched Me". Just please don't do "Just Over In The Gloryland". I'm doing that one on my CD.

When I was a youngster attending a Lutheran church, we used to sing a hymn called "Abide With Me" that I've always thought would make an excellent metal song. You wouldn't even have to mess with the music, just speed it up a bit, play it as a gallop, and run it through a distortion pedal and it would sound great, IMO.
Abide With Me
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day; Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see; O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word; But as Thou dwell’st with Thy disciples, Lord, Familiar, condescending, patient, free. Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.
Come not in terrors, as the King of kings, But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings, Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea— Come, Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.
Thou on my head in early youth didst smile; And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile, Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee, On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.
I need Thy presence every passing hour. What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power? Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness. Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies. Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Pk - I randomly pulled out AHTP today. Tonight I see a message on CMR that you're looking to do disc #2. I gotta tell ya your rendition of Amazing Grace was/is INCREDIBLE!!! I love it.
The Old Rugged Cross would be a good one.
Do you still have contact with Robyn? That dude can sing! Bring him back for disc 2!

First of all, Welcome to the board Jessrox!
If you're referring to the song I'm thinking of, "What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus...", you're in luck! He covered that song on the first All Hail the Power album:
Nothing But the Blood
This is actually one of my favorites on the album, right up there with Amazing Grace and Take My Life

The first video I found said it was by Stryper, which I bought hook line and sinker since he sounds a lot like Stryper...
Definitely need to look more into this guy. Might be fun to scare some folks with this rendition
