| Sometimes I wonder if the indie released albums are better than the albums released by a record company?
The indie realeases don't have to release confirm the rules of the record company. They are free to release their stuff like they meant it to be. Maybe the record company releases are better? Does a "record company band" mix and master their CDs by the record company or they go to a studio for these things? And the record company is only releasing the album for the band and do the promotions? | |

| It's really hard to say which is better. Some indie artists have the resources to pay for more mixing and professional mastering so that their releases equal their record company signed compadres. Some record companies don't always spend the money to make great sounding CDs either. I think, when all is said and done, that whether unsigned or signed artists/CDs are better is just a matter of personal tastes. If I like it, I like it. Record companies do more than release a CD for the band. They pay for the recording, producer, promotions, etc. But, they take a HUGE chunk of the money made from CD sales (sometimes all the money) and can even require bands to sign away some of the money made on things like concert ticket sales and merchandise. You don't have the same promotional power as an indie artist, but you don't have to sign away any money as an indie. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| As long as the band can get a decent sounding recording I don't care if they are indie or with a record company. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| In general I prefer indie releases if production quality is decent. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

| His Witness was officially released on 08/05/2008. I am currently working on a review, which should be online this weekend.
Retroactive has a copy currently listed on eBay.
BTW, killer album! | |

| I thought Retroactive was a record company, and Brutal Planet was a distributor. Are they just different arms of the same body? _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Okay, yes you are right (my bad). But the Retroactive website lists both Retroactive Active Releases AND Brutal Planet Distro- so I guess they fall under the same umbrella. Again, sorry for any confusion.

| Andy, I am looking forward to read your review of His Witness. The His Witness album is on the summer/fall list of Retroactive list. There they were on the spring list too. Soo the question is will it really be summer/fall 2008? It's really a killer album and comes high in my top 2008. | |

| Searched on all online vendors who sell Retroactive releases. Soundmass is the only place where His Witness "Kingdom Come" is listed in the recent additions. This CD is not in stock at Sounmass. I thin AU 20 is a bit expensive for one CD? So now I wonder where I can order His Witness? | |
