In a large saucepan, combine berries, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and water and bring to a boil. Drop dumplings into hot boiling berries by the tablespoonful. Cover pot, reduce heat to low, and cook slowly for 20 to 30 minutes. Do not remove the lid before 20 minutes has passed, and do not stir dumplings. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh cream.
i found this recipe online after doing a search for 'blueberry dumplings.' i remember as a kid my grandma making these for us and how much i loved them, but in all this time, i never thought that somebody else out there might have the recipe.
it looks really simple to make, so i'll be making these soon.

| Somehow, I think I am the weird one. Give me some of the blueberry dumplings WITH a side of bacon. It might clog the arteries, but I gotta die from something. Might as well be from enjoying one last good meal. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

Blueberries are either for some lame dessert or to flavor muffins for breakfast. What the He!! kind of Southerners are yall????? GEESH! one that knows about blueberry dumplings. i remember getting up with the rooster crowing [literally... it was still dark outside] and Grandma putting an apron on me and knotting up the bottom, so i could go out into the chicken coops to gather eggs for the day. i remember her keeping those blueberry dumplings in Mason jars on a shelf over her old wood-burning, potbellied stove.it was one of those old iron stoves that was used for both cooking and keeping the house warm. it had an iron pipe that ran up through the ceiling to release the smoke. it had an iron door she'd open to toss a log into and stoke up the fire to get it hot enough.the top had 4 flat iron covers that served as burners to cook on. every now and again she'd lift one up with a hook and poke around in the fire to stir it up. if we got everything finished in time [by dawn], we could go in and tell her what we wanted for breakfast and she'd fix it. everything was from scratch. i never saw a box of cereal in that house. i remember her fixing those blueberry dumplings and how good they were. sometimes they werent blueberry dumplings, but blackberry dumplings [same recipe, just substitute blueberries with blackberries] and those were good, too. SO, dont tell me about the South. i've lived it old school and any REAL SOUTHERNER knows, you can make dumplings from just about anything. | |

| I think Sue may rightfully be about to open a can of Jackie Chan on you. I think she could take you down, too, Old Man.

| Apple dumplings are good. I've had those before. Actually, I think that the recipe for the blackberry dumplings would be better than the blueberry. I like blackberries a lot more.
