| So... anyone here at CHM hear of The Holidays ? (circa 1988) I'm surprised how many Christian rockers have never heard of them. They really had a great sound. Simple 80s "Altar Boys" pop-punk sound with great vocals... yet unique amongst many bands doing the same thing back then. The Holidays released 2 albums back in 88 and 89: "Everything is Now" (only released on cassette) and "Restless Heart" Mini Mendez and band recently got together and released some newer stuff under the name "The Glimmer Stars"... this release is excellent but not overtly Christian. Right now they're just rock and rollin' for the fun of it, but they still have a heart for Jesus. There's almost nothing on the internet regarding the Holidays, which is a shame as I believe they should be in the same hall of fame as Undercover, Jerusalem, Altar boys. | |

| Wish I could play them for you, they're pretty cool. It's too bad we can't embed soundbytes here. There's probably an RIAA rule about doing that I'm sure... . | |

| Oh yeah... um, well... I was aware of that video, but, it's quite possibly THE worst example of how they sound... it's got really bad audio. Tell you what, I'll post sound clips on my website for a better example of their sound. Be back in a few to give you the website.... | |

| Hey they sound really cool, pop rock with a bit of edge. Kinda reminds me of Brighton (only better). -- _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

I would classify Brighton more as "glam-rock"... the Holidays were around the same time period but had a more pop-punk sound (for the time) I always wished Brighton had more than one album.... "sigh" | |

| The Holidays released "Everything is Now" only on cassette back in '88. Their 2nd and last release as "The Holidays" was called "Restless Heart" '89 Today most of the same band are playing more for fun than ministry as "The Glimmer Stars" www.myspace.com/theglimmerstars Their sound is similar to the Holidays, but his singing sometimes hits an X-Sinner / AC/DC sound... pretty cool. I'd prefer more of a Christian overtone, but their lyrics are clean nonetheless. . | |
