Anybody heard of this band? I thought I remember reading somewhere that Cage was not a Christian band, but that their recent “Hell Destroyer” album is supposed to be “Christian Themed” (whatever that means).

Wondering if anyone has this? If so what do you think of it lyrically?

OK, so I read them now. It's a hard call. They show some signs of faith, but don't stray too far off the Lance King path of keeping the cool metal image so to speak. Christ Hammer would be the boldest track I guess but I don't like the line "The christhammer will crush the infidels" as it sounds like Jesus is Islamic. I find the harrangue against King Diamond interesting as well - if they had no faith, why would they write it?

Much of it starts off sounding like Christian music but then just gets confusing.

From the song "Hell Destroyer"
Quote :

I've been to hell and back to overtake the throne - I am the king !
This wicked legacy is mine and mine alone - I am the king !
Your twisted treachery, this bloodbath has been settled - I am the king !
Bow down and kiss the ring, I wear the wrown of metal - The king !

Huh?

And the "Christ hammer crushing the infidels" lyric sounds like a mix of Christianity and Islam.

Good question. I almost seems like the lyrics were written by a brand new Christian. Or maybe they just liked the imagry?

I dont think they are Christian, here are the lyrics from their album the " Astrology"
The Astrologicon

[Music: Eric Horton / Dave Garcia]
[Lyrics: Sean Peck]

Hidden from evil the book and its secrets remain
Holding the key to the future and just whant our God's preordained
Protected by priests made of iron containing omnipotent force
Stronger and wise become holy eyes as the union begins with the source

We're all seeking the light
Fallen savior
No! we're all seeking the light
Fallen savior
The book has a name the stories are true there is no end to what it can do

Reading the pages they seemed to be coming
Deciphered in stages revealling the legend of time
More ancient then all other scriptures this coveted relic of signs
Designed to endure enshrined to the pure now the truth will be told this time

We're all seeking the light
Fallen savior
No! we're all seeking the light
Fallen savior
The book has a name the stories are true there is no end to what it can do

Using the Astrologicon and watching the sky the Vatican gained clairvoyance and the power to make other die

We're all seeking the light
Fallen savior
No! we're all seeking the light
Fallen savior

Power corrupting it's too much for one man to hold
Imbalance disrupting the war for the struggle of souls
Existence is no longer secret we're facing a perilous plight
The book has a cost distinction is lost between the dark and the light

We're all seeking the light
Fallen savior
No! we're all seeking the light
Fallen savior
The book has a name the stories are true there is no end to what it can do

The purest intentions are melting away with the coming fight
Evil is beckoning born to betray
Watch the King and the Fallen angel rise

Kind of looks like they just like the imagery for the music, because theologically those lyrics are all over the map.

I considered this album too, but decided against it. I don't mind secular music, but I don't like secular music that deals incorrectly with the subject of God.

I have heard their singer is a Christian. The band is NOT a Christian band though.

You listen to other secular bands that I would say do that ocassionally also though. BTW, the new Brainstorm cd shows a lot of faith elements also.

I really like this album. Had it for quite a while and still play it often. And Norm's right FOJ you listen to many bands more controversial then Cage. Heck even the "Christian band" Bride would fit into that category now.
