Last night I watched "The Visitor" ....sad ending but a good film.

I've seen District 9 now! It was a good movie (produced by Peter Jackson of Lord Of The Rings fame).

SPOILER ALERT!
Basically an alien ship arrives but the doors don't open. The army cuts it's way in after about 3 months, and finds all the aliens (1.8 million of them) all malnurished and almost dying. So the humans set up a camp for them on earth and keep them in a certain area (District 9). In the end the humans are more interested in researching the aliens weapons than looking after the aliens. One man contracts a virus and starts turning into an alien, and then decides to help the aliens get away from earth.

CGI - 10/10
Storyline - 7/10
Acting 7/10
Swearing level 2/10
Violence 4/10
Feelgood factor 6/10

TOTAL 7/10

Last night watched "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas".

Moving film.......not inappropriate but I don't think I would let my kids watch it. Very sad.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

Now I will say that I have made it required watching for my 16 year old daughter, but will not let my 9 year old watch it (yet).

This gives away the ending a bit (but you asked for it). The main character is the son of a Nazi Extermination Camp Commandant. Unknown to his father the boy visits the edge of the camp where he befriends a Jewish boy in the camp who is his age (eight). The German boy is very naive about what is going on in the camp and he comes to a terrible end. I would say it is probably ok for the 14 to 15+ crowd, but not sure I would show it to anyone much younger.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is very moving. But, anything about the Holocaust moves me emotionally. The Jews must still have it rough, dealing with the memory of that horror, and hearing people say it never happened. My wife and I have a great love for the children of Israel. How could we not, our King is a Jewish carpenter!

I've watched a couple of 'That the World May Know' series, featuring Ray Vander Laan. They're like mini Bible lessons. Very cool.

We just got satellite(again), so for the first time in 5 years we have tv. Watching Bones, Criminal Minds, CSI NY, Law and Order SVU, Forensic Files... the list keeps growing.

Even so, I'm usually reading while my wife absorbs the boob tube output. TV, with all its bells and whistles can't even compare to a really good book.
