paula abdul and metal? Straight up now tell me....

There is a band here in Iowa that does a cover of the Paula Abdul hit "straight up". Pretty good. On CdBaby they list their comparison is Finger 11 and Pillar. I don't hear those two bands (maybe a little bit of Pillar). I think they are more along the lines of Spoken or Staple or any band that has to scream thru a lot of thier songs. Not my cup o tea but maybe someone would like it.

I saw this on the CMR and I must say that I am impressed! Great band, and this was a great rendition of that song.

I will forewarn you.......this CD is a lot more screamo vocals than singing. And, it is done in a way that grates on my nerves. Also, the songs are rather awkward in places when they change from one part to another.

I'm glad that CD Baby lets you send things back.

A Life Echoed sounds OK.
The Paula Abdul song "Straight Up" sounds great.
The rest of this band is "too noisy" for my rockin' ears.

Thanks for the heads up Chris. How would you compare the screamo to bands such as Staple or Spoken. At least with both these bands they have some melodic singing to them.
