FIRES OF BABYLON is a newly formed band cranking out classic 1980s-style shredding U.S. heavy metal. The group features in its ranks the highly skilled and lauded lineup of guitarist Lou St. Paul (WINTERS BANE), vocalist Rob Rock (solo; ex-IMPELITTERRI), bassist Kelly Conlon (ex-DEATH, MONSTROSITY), and drummer Robert Falzano (SHATTER MESSIAH; ex-ANNIHILATOR).

Very impressed by Lou's playing on WINTERS BANE's "Redivivus" album, the owner of European label Metal Heaven Records asked St. Paul to write the material and put together a band to record a classic, shredding '80s metal album — and FIRES OF BABYLON is the result.

FIRES OF BABYLON's debut album, "Devilution", will feature 10 crushing, fist-in-the-air metal anthems, and will be released in early 2008 on Metal Heaven Records.

This could be really awesome! The last Winter's Bane album was killer. Add in Rob Rock to a similar sound this could be amazing. Smile

I assume Rob is writing the lyrics so they'll have a Christian flavor to them?

There's not a whole lot of info on the band yet but I do know Lou St. Paul is a Christian also so between him and Rob the lyrics should be of a Christian nature.

This does sound promising but with that lineup it also looks like it will be a very heavy sounding album. Rob seems to be getting heavier and heavier at this point in his career. I would like to see him team back up with someone like Axel Rudi Pell (he sang on Axel's "Nasty Reputation" cd) or Warrior because that is my favorite style from Rob. The more mid-tempo melodic metal stuff.

Not for me. I far prefer Rob's heaviest stuff. And Winters Bane's last album was KILLER! Putting that sound and Holy Hell together, with positive (if not Christian) lyrics, would be an incredible album. Though, hopefully, with Rob singing and writing, it will be a Christian-themed album.

One of the VERY few albums that I will probably buy without ever hearing a sample. I can't wait for this!!!
