Just found out a brilliant way of sorting out the age old problem of two kids both wanting the bigger pudding / candy / etc.
I basically get one of them to dish the stuff out and then say "split it into two, and you can have the smaller half." They basically make it exactly even bowls of food. It's worked a treat!

We used to let one child cut the two pieces of pie, and then let the second child got to pick their piece first. Pretty much the same concept....it is amazing how accurately they can cut something into equal halves (or thirds).
