I think that Jim is my daddy and I am moving home this weekend only he doesn't know it yet.  LOL

Thanks kids !
Yeh, no one around me, family, friends, etc, appreciate it beyond a passing interest or the typical "wow ! you have a LOT of records !"... uhhh, yeh, I do, but that's not why I'm showing you my music room.

So I knew you fine folks would appreciate it more. It's my final bSouild. If I end up filling in the space completely, I'll simply get rid of something to make room for something new... no "overflowing".

Very cool! I think I have been in a few used cd/record stores with less of a selection.

I'll just put an air mattress in my new room....your old music room.  'Night, daddy!  lol!

The shelving units look great, and you did a fine job capturing the look/feel of an old record store.  I miss perusing the racks to find a new gem to listen to.  Finding a real record or CD store around here--even in Nashville--is difficult.  Best Buy has done away with any CDs except for the most popular releases now.  There are a few specialty stores that sell mostly country music.  There are a couple of big used book/CD/video game/DVD stores where you can still find stuff, but "music city" is devoid of music stores.  The surrounding areas like Murfreesboro, Lebanon, etc. simply don't have them either.  While we still have quite a few Lifeway stores around, they don't generally carry music I am interested in.  So, without the internet, I would have no way of finding new music.

Well, if you ask my wife, the answer would be "Too many"
If you ask me, "Not enough"  Laughing
But a rough idea based on how many CDs fit in each row: 2,400 CDs

Thanks ! Luckily California still has music stores, old and new releases, though not half as many as back in the day. Guess that'd be another reason for you to come squat at my house  Wink

Haha !  Believe it or not, I'm at the point where I don't want "more", I just want to enjoy what I already have. What happens when I have as much as a retail store is I get overwhelmed and end up forgetting which albums I already have. With me, it IS possible to have too much music. I now feel I have exactly the amount I want. (guess I'm finally growing up and becoming practical - LOL !)

My CD collection looks pitiful compared to that!

10,000 CD's!!! Wow!  I have 600ish!
You've done a great job, Jim

Completely agreed.
I have an old friend who has to have in excess of 4,000 albums (between cds, LPs and cassettes).  But I wouldn't take more than half of it if he gave it away to me for free.  A lot of it is stuff I just don't care for.

I thought you meant you had 2400 in each row!  Okay, someone slap me!  affraid

It's true, it is all quality... well apart from a few rather raw Holy Danger, but they're just plain cool!

I would LOVE to have some Holy Danger !  I have their stuff on mp3, but no originals - pretty pricey.

My wife says the same thing.  They don't know what they're missing!

While my wife rolls her eyes at collecting and says it's way too much, she also wants me to be happy -she was actually the one who came up with the idea for moving my music room and building a new one.  I never suggested or hinted, or even thought of, having my music in the new office add on. One day she just said "I have a great idea for your music collection" - and the rest is history. She's the best !

Holy Hannah Banana!! I just saw this. That photo made me gasp. Wow! I'm hearing the rhythmical "From Once Was" playing in the background as I peruse that utopia of sound that is your MUSIC ROOM!! Ooo, the pace quickens -- "Self Monger" starts up in the background -- as I find a new gem to enjoy.

I'll say it again: Holy Hannah Jim!

Tell me there's a comfortable couch or chair to sit in with eyes closed as the music washes over you...
