PostSubject: Re: Random Ramblings   Thu Nov 16, 2017 7:09 am

Oh, it seemed like I had little in common with the folks I went to school with.  I don't drink or smoke.  Most of them do.  Some of them mentioned going to church, but were blitzed out of their mind by night's end.  People found out I was a youth minister and cleaned up their speech as well.  The guys mostly went off to one side to talk about football and other sports to which I am illiterate.  The ladies were talking about how wild they were in high school and college.  I didn't do all that.  I did some drinking on the weekends with a couple of friends when I was 17.  I graduated at 17 and married at 18.  I did my college through a distance study program while working a full time job with a wife long before online courses were offered.

Even as an adult, I don't "go to church".  I am a Christian who wants to make an impact for the Lord whether big or small.  I work with youth because that is where God has led me thus far both in the church and at school.  I believe we are to BE the church by boldly loving, serving, teaching, etc.  As Petra called it, these are the "marks of the cross".

One thing I was actually surprised about is that quite a few people from my high school graduating class also went to my alma mater, the University of Houston.  But since I was an engineering student while also being in marching/pep band, I rarely saw any of them.  Some I didn't even know they went there until re-connecting with them on Facebook.

Today, I am going to go see the new Justice League movie.  It should be fun!

Just went to another all-night youth event. A local youth group asked me to drive one of their vans on the return trip, so that their youth leaders could spend all night with the youth and sleep on the way back. It was a nice quiet drive on the way back, thankfully.

Hope it was better than Batman vs. Superman.  The reviews I've heard tell me it isn't.

I, for one, liked Batman Vs. Superman and it's darker, grittier tone.  I thought the director's cut was better in explaining how the two heroes end up doing battle before joining forces at the end.

I thought Justice League was fun, but the villian felt a little rushed to me.  Of course, you don't get tons of character development for the newbies as they didn't have time to do full origin stories that will happen.

I think these would have been better received if you had not had so much Marvel stuff out there that is almost carbon copy in tone and feel.  Warner Bros. wanted a darker saga to do something different with their characters.  I felt like they did a decent job of building a platform to finish building their universe if they so choose to do this.  With Flash, Aquaman, Batman, and a 2nd Wonder Woman film in production, I'd say that are prepping to build as quickly as possible.  Justice League provides that framework.

I was just joking.  I spent the last week with my wife on a cruise to Mexico (the west coast).  You had to pay something like $185 for 20 minutes of wifi, so we just turned off our phones while on the cruise.  Jim knew I was in Mexico, so I thought it would be funny to claim to have been in a Mexican jail.  Laughing

Once I finish getting the pictures upload I will post a few of them.

Indeed. I haven't heard that song in years. Totally forgot about it. You just made my day with that poast TTDR. Such a fun song. Love me some Monty Python too. Personally I'm partial to some lumberjack with a hint of Spanish Inquisition. It's funny how out of context I SO did not get what you guys were on about.

Yes, Staybrite, inquiring minds want to know. Did you enjoy yourself?

That he likened it to a Mexican prison doesn't bode well though, eh, RV. Have you ever been on a cruise Yvonne? I'd love to go on one to Alaska or through some Norwegian fjords (my ancestors are Norwegian, hence the interest)

The cruise was fantastic!  I really enjoyed it (thought I might get sea-sick the first day, but I got used to it fairly quickly).  It was nice having everything taken care of for you.  No meal prep, no house-cleaning, no planning events....didn't even have to make the bed!
The only tough part was deciding what to do, there are so many things going on the ship that you couldn't possibly even do half of them.  We went to four different shows in the theater (a comedian...twice, a Whitney Houston tribute singer, and a dance performance), as well as eating in several different restaurants, lounging and swimming in the pools, walking on the deck, wife got a massage...and all that was just on the boat.  Then we went shopping, salsa making (and salsa dancing), visited a tequila distillery, splashed around in the ocean and experience quite a bit of Mexican culture on shore.
I highly recommend going on a cruise if you can.

So she is married to BOTH of you?  Man, that's just nasty!!!!  lol!

Our water heater crapped out on us Friday.  It is only 3 1/2 years old.  Sadly, I didn't keep the warranty information and can't get it replaced.

So, we bought a new one from Lowe's and they told us they'd get it installed today.  Well,  they sold us the wrong size (this one was too tall) and the installer has quit due to schedule conflicts or so he told them.  I don't think he wanted to go up and down the stairs into my basement where the water heater is.  I know it is tough as I helped to install the last one.  That's why I wanted a flippin' installer!!!!

Lowe's called and is swapping out the heater and refunding the money.  They don't know if they can get an installer today now or not.  This is turning into a crappy day as I took off from work to be here for the blessed installer!!!!  GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
