John DeGroff

I don't know if anyone else has heard of this, but Petra's original bassist John DeGroff has just released a solo album. I got a review copy, and it's pretty decent stuff. Most of it is instrumental, but two songs have vocals from John Schlitt. Overall I think it has a kind of early 70s prog/jazz rock vibe. Before I knew exactly which albums DeGroff played on, I thought a lot of it sounded like stuff from Come and Join Us.

I'm not much of an instrumental (or even prog/jazz) fan, but I will definitely check out the tracks with Schlitt.

This is very 70s prog. To be honest, I don't much care for even the tracks with Schlitt.

I know I said two, but I think it is actually three songs with vocals.

I checked it out, but it was a little too jazzy for my tastes. Talented work though.
