| picked up a (til just now sealed) copy of the Armada Anthology. in my 900 whatever CDs i've never seen anything like this before. have you? haven't tried it yet so I don't know if it works or not... ahem..never mind the dust ; ) | |

| It's called cd rot. Unfortunate. Sometimes being in sunlight causes that or being exposed to chemicals or the fumes of some chemicals can do that. Even using certain types of markers to label them can put them at risk of rot. In your case, it looks to me like the adhesive layers have separated. Real bummer cause I don't think there's anything you can do about it. Google "cd rot" and you might find something about fixing it (maybe getting it resurfaced would work, but I really have no idea).
You can do stuff to help reduce the risk to your other CDs like storing them upright and not touching the playing surface, etc.

yeah...I've been buying CDs for 30 years, around 900ish now, never had any issue before... this was a still sealed copy (till I opened it) of the Armada compilation from 1998 | |
