so I have the opportunity to get this disc for cheap. I don't care for Rex Carroll Band but I've heard this is more bluesy/R&B. Any thoughts on it?

I don't see a lot of difference between the two albums.  Both are bluesy and I think both have Rex on vocals as well.

The Rex Carroll sessions cd is more mellow, and the vocals are  way better than the Rex Carroll Band cd.

I only have the RCB album, but I've heard the Sessions album, and I agree with Dale that it is mellower.

Okay, I thought Rex Carroll band was someone else. And no, still haven't pulled the trigger on this. Though I'm about to.

Is the RCB album good? What can I expect lyrically?

Don't know about the sessions, but RCB released a blues album. I like it, but I like blues-based guitar.

His voice isn't the greatest but I think it fits this style just fine.
