Is Impelleteri music or shall I say lyrics faith based. I read an interview with Chris. He sounds like Mike Sweet in the sense that he says he's Christain but the band isn't.. So is it like Stryper

When Rob is in the band, the lyrics are written from a Christian point of view, not overtly Christian as Rob Rock's solo stuff is. Though Impellitteri did do Jehovah on this last cd.

When someone else is in the band instead of Rob, I dont see any signs of anything remotely Christian.

I won't get into Michael's wordplay about Stryper, you can clearly tell where they stand by their lyrics. Stryper's lyrics are pretty straightforward

If Rob Rock is singing lead the lyrics are generally faith-based, or at least positive in nature.  If Rob isn't singing lead then it's anybody's guess.  Listen to the albums Stand In Line and Pedal To the Metal and you'll see what I mean.  The latter one even has a couple of four letter words, including an "F-bomb."  System X, the only studio album I don't have, had Graham Bonnet on lead again (same guy as Stand In Line), so I suppose it probably isn't faith-based either.

I've never heard or read anything to doubt Chris' faith, but I believe he is in the music business to make money, not to minister, and to my knowledge he has never written any of the lyrics. That being said, he clearly doesn't mind faith-based lyrics; otherwise he wouldn't have such a great relationship with Rob.

Whilst Pedal To The Metal isn't a christian album, some of the lyrics are good...

Can't you hear the message
From deep beyond the grave
The cost of war is bloody insane
Dying soldier wounded
Gunshot to the head
Just an innocent man
And now he is dead

God will come again some day
And the wicked man will hang
On judgement day

Don't fear the devil
Cause pharoahs go to hell
You live your life under a spell
Blind men see your evil
Rich men love the gore
The judgement day evens the score

God will come again some day
And the wicked man will hang
On judgement day

[Solo]

The dying soldiers
And wounded men
Loss of innocence
Spreads the land
White house president
And all his men
Couldn't stop the end

Don't fear the devil
Cause presidents go to hell
Sold your soul to Satan
And with him you'll dwell
Blind men saw your evil
And rich men loved the gore
Judgement day is coming
And presidents
You're going straight to hell

and...

Welcome
Welcome to the gates of hell
Tell me did you dance with the devil
Or did you just sell your soul
Come children
Come to the darkside
And welcome to hell

I hear that Satan's calling
For this world to end
He marches on with his masquerade
Taking God's good men
All the kings, the presidents
Sold their soul for greed
Now the world burns
For all of eternity
In his hell

If you dance with the devil
Hell is the price you must pay
If you dance with the devil

On the streets of Paris France
London and L.A.
The devils men are tempting you
With money and his fame
With the money and the fame
Superstars, the money and cars
Girls and sex machines
Made the world turn
For all of eternity
In his hell

If you dance with the devil
Hell is the price you must pay
Burns your face to the concrete
You'll become obsolete
Demons come without warning
And you're just a moth to the flame
There's no chance for redemption

[Solo]

The world has fallen into a trance
Do we even stand a chance

If you dance with the devil
Hell is the price you must pay
Burns your face to the concrete
You'll become obsolete
Demons come without warning
And you're just a moth to the flame
There's no chance for redemption
Here lies the obsolete
If you dance with the devil
The image you slay is yourself
Burns your fist to the concrete

Chris is a believer.... but the band isnt a ministry and nothing wrong with that imo.... (so let the arguing begin... yawn....)

When Stand in Line was released Chris wasn't a believer at the time.  He became a believer through his relationship with Rob Rock..

The latest album smokes with great lyrical content....

You won't see much arguing on this board on that subject.  I am sure some believe most Christians in a band should be ministry oriented, but I don't think most here think it is necessary...and the ones who do won't waste their time arguing about it.

Well I think whether a band needs to be ministry oriented is determined whether it's a "Christian band" or "Christians in a band."

That explains Switchfoot, saying they are "Christians in a band" and then signing up to be the Saturday headliner at the Lifelight, a Christian music festival here in SD.

That's great to read that Chris became a Christian through his relationship with Rob.
There are more band with "Christians in the band".
