Over the last few years he has made some appearances in Mt. Airey, NC (the basis for Mayberry) and he would sell his art. A friend of mine took his picture and got his autograph. But he was also a painter and would sell his art at the Andy Griffith Museum.
Several of his paintings are still for sale on his website (the one above is sold but there are still several available if you have over $1200 to spend!).

Wow, those are really good. I remember he appeared on The Andy Griffith Show a couple of times. A musician maybe? On the show I mean.

Yep me77. He was on one episode as a local singer and guitar player who was very good, Jim Lindsey. He gets arrested on something small, Andy tries to talk him into moving to New York to make it and he doesn't think he can. About that time, a touring band shows up in Mayberry and Andy arrests the band and Jim again, making sure he has the guitar. Jim plays and sings for the band and they hire him.
