I picked a new one, but it is a little difficult to see.  It is a junk food stand at a fair.  Like many areas around the country Autumn is  "fair season" and we have our states largest fair (in September), just 8-10 miles down the road from where we live.  I love all the food they have at the fair especially Elephant Ears (large thin dough deep fried in oil and covered in butter, sugar and cinnamon).

We have funnel cakes as well, different from the Elephant Ear.  I think funnel cakes are made with cake or waffle batter and obviously "funneled" into the hot oil.  While an elephant ear is made from either bread or biscuit type dough and rolled out thin, then fried.

OOhhhh... then yes, we still call Elephant Ears something different here in St Louis... Fried Dough. We're very creative.

My friend from Ecuador would call them Bunuelo.

I have been abroad and had fried dough (or fry bread in some places).  It's all pretty much the same thing....tasty.

Tasty being the operative, key word here.

I like Autumn a lot. It was hard to choose.
