He might be sincere, but I see it more as lunacy. I have no problem with being animated during your prayer times, but this seems to be a show. Jesus told us to pray privately and the God would reward us openly. This seems to violate that whole principle to me.

Candlemass you are correct, he's a poet and performer. I'm familiar with this guy. He's like Bradley Hathaway only... louder, much like Levi the Poet. In fact, some think he's a direct ripoof of Levi the Poet...
Not for everyone, which doesn't necessarily take away it's legitimacy - death metal isn't for everyone either.

Spoken word art has been around for millennia - that's how the Old Testament was passed down as well as many other early publications (Homer, Aristotle, etc.).
As far as it's popularity in America, the Beatniks were around in the 60's and it's cycled in an out ever since. "Christian" spoken word has been around since the mid-90's or so.

So did some of the LSD induced poetry of the sixties and all that Gonzo stuff that Hunter S. Thompson did... now that stuff is pretty respected and even well liked.
Like I said, it's not for everyone.

Hunter was most certainly a raving madman!
Sure, he and his contemporaries had some talent, and from checking out a bit of Levi, him too, but this kid seems like a wanna-be...

I watched both videos and I don't care for it at all. If he were one of the performers at a concert I had gone to, this would be when I would hit the bathroom and check out the merchandise tables of the bands.

It is a show in that it is a performance. Really it would be no different if it were a song, just that this isn't your taste. It wasn't mine either, so don't take that as a criticism.
