New Christian Parody Band

In the spirit of good old ApologetiX, there's a new kid in town - they're called Truth Be Told and they're not too shabby -

Will have to check them out. There used to be a similar band around here as well, though I don't remember what they were called.

Doesn't sound bad at all, but they are selling their MP3 songs for too much ($1.29 a song is even more than Amazon or iToons charges for most music).

Yeah, I can't figure out if you get a cd with your purchase of downloads or not...several places on their site they say "CD", but then when it comes to purchasing the music, it just says downloads.... soooooooo, idk
(as with any new band, I'm sure they're broke and playing with sub-par instruments that are in need of upgrades, so, I'm sure they need the money - but I agree, 1.29 a song is way too much for this cheapo)

They sound pretty good. I am just not that much into the parody thing..I just as soon listen to the original songs. When you take someones music and rewrite lyrics that seems kinda lame to me. There is a secular band called Rock Sugar that takes one bands music and anothers lyrics and combines them...that was kinda interesting. I also agree $1.29 is kinda steep...especially on website I know nothing about.

And I don't like parody bands anyway, it just feeds the narrative that Christians can't write original music.

I completely understand that others like parody bands while I do not.....not trying to start a fight, just saying that it's not my thing.

Don't feel bad bassdude, I'm right there with you. It's cool that others dig parody music but it really isn't my thing either.

I love parodies, but I think they should be funny. Sometimes bands like this (Apologetix) just comes off too serious. Their best songs are always the ones that make me laugh--not give me a sermon. So, bring the parodies, but make sure they are funny.

I agree that the best "parody" songs are those that make you laugh... however, when I discovered ApologetiX back in the day, my biggest draw to them wasn't the fact that they "Christianized" secular songs (which I DID think was cool)-

What made me Mr. "ApologetiXFreak" (my original monicker) was the fact that J did such a great job of writing lyrics that taught and defended the Faith. My favorite category of Biblical studies was always apologetics, so when I began reading lyrics that successfully and correctly taught these things, it was then that I fell in love with the band.

They're also so great for memorizing (which I'm terrible with) -Like I always tell people who've never heard of them: The only reason I can remember the names of the 12 Apostles, Kings of Israel, genealogies and so many other Bible stats is cuz of J's lyrics.

And besides, someone's gotta support these starving bands

My dad accidentally came up with a parody idea just now… change "Mexican Radio" (Wall Of Voodoo) to "Christian Radio"

If I had a Christian parody band, it would probably be Deaf Leper and talk about the Gospels and events recorded in them.
