Rather than post in CMR, I'd thought it better if I post my question here...

I will be getting the new album at some point but I'd like to know what it's like based on my tastes. Unworthy, you may be able to help me out. I'll leave out the first 3 Tourniquet albums, as they're my favourites, but have a different vocalist. Regarding the others Unworthy mentioned that the new album is a cross between CTC, WMRD and MVTR. Now I love CTC as I think it was the best album to showcase Lukes vocals and I think it worked a treat. Yes it's not very 'Tourniquet' in its sound but I still thought it was great. WMRD I thought was their best 'heavy' album not including the first three as it had some really memorable tracks in it, and although it was a slight bit too 'nonstandard' (if that makes sense, by that I mean a few of the songs sort of sometimes lost my interest at various points) it was still a great album. MVTR I really (really really) don't like at all. It doesn't sit well with me and I haven't listened to it in years.

So, if that all makes sense, in my context what's the album like?

Cheers

Fundy

I haven't heard it and won't buy it until I can find clips online. I like Tourniquet (the Luke era only) but they aren't big players for me.

1. MVTR
2. WMRD
3. CTC

that's the order of the depth I hear of influence.. seems opposite of the way you spoke of your favorites lol

however, I would encourage you to give it a listen. It is a Tourniquet album and draws from all of the Luke era music (even some from pre).. from VL to WMRD .. I hear some of everything in it and, honestly, I think after just a few listens it has taken the most coveted (well, in my mind anyway lol) top spot of my favorite Tourniquet album. For me to say that is not easy as Tourniquet has put out a LOT of stellar music and has been my favorite band for years.

I certainly don't want to overhype the album and I certainly don't want to do the opposite.

for those not on CMR this is how I described the album:

"recipe for Antiseptic Bloodbath:

take MVTR ... mix it with CTC
and WMRD... stir in some awesome solos.. and the usual Tourniquet
surprises (like the intro to Lost Languages) and there you go..."

and here's the tracklist:

1. Chart of the Elements (6:39)
2. Antiseptic Bloodbath (6:12)
3. The Maiden Who Slept in the Glass Coffin (7:29)
4. Chamunda Temple Stampede (5:20)
5. Flowering Cadaver (5:20)
6. 86 Bullets (5:13)
7. Duplicitous Endeavor (5:02)
8. Lost Language of the Andamans (6:57)
9. Carried Away on Uncertain Wings (4:52)
10. Fed By Ravens, Eaten By Vutures (8:09)

Thank you very much for your info, Unworthy. It will go a long way in helping me understand what the album will be like when I buy it. At the moment I'm cautiously optimistic based on my likes and dislikes.

Incidentally, I've just noticed that I've been doing my "Guy Ritter" website for 10 years this year! Who'd have thought time would go by so quickly!

I like Guy's vocal style... from Holy Danger to Echo Hollow (at least what I've heard as I don't own EH) ... I had a Tourniquet fan page that I put up in like '97 ... and just thinkin' it's been 15 years is.. makes me feel old lol ... the one up now has only been up for 6 months or so and I haven't done much with it because I didn't get a whole lot of traffic except when Tourniquet put it on facebook.

I was concerned that as much as I'd hyped this album to myself and others that it wouldn't be worth all the waiting and such... but after I've listened to it a few times.. it's a killer album.. and certainly made it all seem worth the wait.
