Senator Sues God

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The defendant in a state senator's lawsuit is accused of causing untold death and horror and threatening to cause more still. He can be sued in Douglas County, the legislator claims, because He's everywhere.
State Sen. Ernie Chambers sued God last week. Angered by another lawsuit he considers frivolous, Chambers says he's trying to make the point that anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody.
Chambers says in his lawsuit that God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents, inspired fear and caused ''widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants.''

This guy is nuts. Does he really think that a court is going to hear this? How are you going to subpoena God? Personally, I would love for God to show up and testify, though!

Although this is meant to prove a point when it comes to frivolous lawsuits, I can see some liberal judge taking this case and actually putting God under at least a restraining order. They might, since His kingdom is not of this world, even go so far as to call for His extradition. I can see the headline now:

NEBRASKA COURT ORDERS GOD OUT OF USA.

I wonder what the senator will do when he finally mets God, do you think he will ask for a retrial?

A mistrial. That way, any testimony previously given would not be admissible in a new trial. LOL

But to be a senator, you have to be a touch insane these days. So, I doubt people deciding that he's just a nutjob will cause him to go away.

If I were a judge, I would throw the case out of court. I would use that non-existent, but somehow everyone believes it is real, clause that suing God is not a true "separation of church and state". I would tell the man that he would have to find a church council willing to hear his case.

If he wants to make an appeal to God, he will have to go to God's house and make an honest effort. I don't expect that to happen with this senator.

For me it seems Mr. Chamers doesn't understand much about God.
My advice to him is read the Bible first.

I think y'all are being too harsh on this guy. I think his point is valid.
