As I Don't Read That Much...

... I decided to write my own book instead! Actually that's a bit of a fib. In 1995 I started writing a book (for my own amusement and not for anything more), and by 1998 I'd written about 60 pages. Since then I've added another 20 pages to it, although I haven't written anything more in the last 5 - 10 years. Last week I found we can do up to 300 page perfect bound books at work, so I could actually get my book printed to look like a normal novel. That's inspired me to type it up again (the original computer copy got lost when our old computer crashed), so I'm typing up from a hard copy. I'm also changing the bits that don't make sense and trying to make it read better. Then I hope to carry on writing the book until it's finished and finally get it printed.

It's nothing interesting, but it's a project that keeps my mind active!

My novel is in the fantasy style of Lord Of The Rings, but with a bit of silly humour added in.

Anyone else write a novel, either to get printed officially or just for a laugh.

Great to write a book.

I have written a novel when I was a teenager and typed it out on the typewriter on my dad's office.
I sent the novel to a publisher, but it was not good enough to be published.

I'm an okay writer, not very descriptive but I like to write short stuff.

Maybe I'll get writing after my exam this afternoon. SO NERVOUS.

I have wanted to write fiction/sci-fi novel for several years.
I started with a less ambitious project, writing about my time in the military. I started several years back and dropped out after about 20 pages. I would love to pick it back up again, but life always seems to get in the way.

Staybrite, I know what you mean about life getting in the way. I have to type it up when everyone else in the house is asleep!

Thanks for the wishes… finished exams, I think I did okay. SCHOOL'S OUT \m/ and I'm pseudo high.

I like writing random blurbs of stuff that makes no common sense, like this:

"As Professor Davis trekked by the river, he could hear the shrill whine of bloodthirsty mosquitoes in the distance. He realized that it was too late to turn back and go to the real world. Why had he listened to Alldatndensum and taken up geocaching? Lucky for Davis, there was an ample supply of OFF in his backpack."

I'm up to page 95 at the moment. I can't go to sleep until midnight or 1 because of junior number 2. This gives me a great opportunity to type up lots more. So I've typed up all of the old stuff and am about 4 pages in to writing new stuff.

When I was still doing community theater, I wanted to write my own script and be able to do my own show. I actually had the first two acts done, and I had started the 3rd but hit a bad case of writer's block. I haven't touched it since 2003. I think I might have even thrown it away as it was in a notebook.

Fundy....get more sleep, your sense of humor is starting to slip.

I looked through some old songs (lyrics and chord charts) I had written some 15 to 20 years ago.......throwing them in the garbage would have been an improvement.
