New Stairway Song

They just added a song off the upcoming album "Interregnum" on their myspace. This song sounds really good! If you haven't pre-ordered this yet, today is the last chance, since the pre-order line closes on March 31st.

Listening to the new track now. Sounds like classic Stairway......very cool!

Sounds pretty good, but the song by itself is just not blowing me away.

Only one song is not much to get an idea if you like the CD.
To be honest I like "No Mercy" the song after the new song more.

This band just doesn't do it for me. Their singer really holds them back. Did the same guy do No Rest No Mercy? The vocals on that album were a lot rougher and grittier. The vocals on every other Stairway album, including the new song, are just wimpy by comparison. They just don't sound good. The music is solid. But without a much stronger vocalist, or this guy returning to the NRNM style vocal, I will never be a Stairway fan.

This sounds OK- I think the song will come to life when not listened to on the computer speakers. This sounds like a song that will take some time to get into. Still, I have always been a big Stairway fan. Their guitarist shreds...

Did you ever like the Scorpions? I think the vocals are very similar. I love the singer's voice in Stairway, personally. For me, he is unique in the Christian scene and can easily be distinguished from other vocalists. But, he does have a Klaus Meine (sp?) quality.

I like his vocals, and the new song sounds pretty good to me.

I do like Meine, but he is a much better singer than this guy in Stairway.

That might have a lot to do with who is producing the record. On the Stairway debut, I think he is every bit as strong as Meine. But, there again, the band had a producer behind the board instead of doing it themselves. Some bands, like Saint, can record themselves and sound as good as if they had hired an expensive producer. I think Stairway's biggest hold back is that they haven't quite gotten the self-recording completely mastered.

That may be true. If the same guy is still there from the No Rest No Mercy album, then something is definitely askew. That album's vocals were awesome. What on earth happened?!

I often wonder how it depends to the song the band will introduce as first.
Is it a song you really like you are more enthusiast over the new CD then when the songs sounds nice but you aren't not very enthusiast about it.
You have to listen to more songs to decide if you like a CD or not.

Yes there are small pockets of them out there. Just not nearly as common as they used to be.
