They don't make 'em like they used to!

Comedy was at it's peak (in films) in the 1930's I reckon. After that it got a bit dull, then a bit rude, then very rude, now it's just awful (in the main).

Laurel & Hardy (On the phone "Stanley, is that you?" "Yes" then Stan puts the phone down)
Marx Bros ("I haven't come here to be insulted" "Well, it's early yet")
Will Hay ("I'll have a blackberry flavoured sweet thanks." "Oh, I don't like the taste of those, I always put them back")
Crazy Gang ("Why can't we light a fire here?" (on top of airballoon) "because the wind will put the fire out")

Once all the vaudville acts died off, comedy really seemed to take a turn for the stoopid. You can still find funny films out there today, but they are definately few and far between. Most comedies I have seen in the last decade are just terrible.
